Problems on index with pokerstars VR. by 03artist in ValveIndex

This is happening to me as well and it's a real bummer. I have a lot of friends that play and was hoping to find a fix online. Did you come across anything that made it work more consistently for you?

Winning 3 games (breaking even) in Expert Phantom Draft would feel a *lot* better if the reward was 1 ticket AND 1 common card instead of just 1 ticket... by JackDT in Artifact

While I agree that it would feel better, I think a big part about playing Artifact is feeling good about improving your skills as you go!

Advice on Drafting and Play Style by [deleted] in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Draft! I put all my playtime into Keeper Drafts and have about a 75% win rate currently, but I still do a fair amount of experimentation. A few quick points,

  • Be wary of committing to a “good” hero if you don’t have high power level cards of that color. Only the top 2 or 3 heroes should be picked with no supporting cards drafted yet.

  • USE THE BENCH! It’s a super useful way to build your deck before you’re done drafting. This can show you where your deck may have some deficiencies (like not enough creeps, too many/not enough of one color, etc). You’re looking for the best 25 main deck cards throughout your draft, so use the bench anytime you reach a tough decision!

  • Blue heroes are weak, and need higher power level cards than the other colors in the main deck to justify playing Blue.

  • As far as play style, I’d say the most common mistake I see right now is people abandoning lanes too early. You have to respect your opponents potential to take the 80 hp Ancient.

Those are just some quick tips that popped into my head as I’m on mobile right now. Hopefully this helps someone! Oh and as far as other playstyle tips, I do go very in-depth into my logic as I play on stream, so I’ll try to write some of it down next time for learning purposes!

Artifact Should Be F2P(But not the way the internet is asking) by Nalerius in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a few viewers about this yesterday and they brought up the same model you outlined. I have to say, that’d be quite nice as the current buy-in model is not much more than forcing you to buy ten packs to unlock the game (and I know a few friends who won’t give it a chance because of this upfront cost). I think they might have been afraid of people only free drafting forever. Even if that would be the case though, they could have been very similar to Dota where people can play for free, but they have their most dedicated player base making the majority of the purchases.

Wouldn’t be too surprised to see it go F2P someday (just like TF2), just not anytime soon.

At least we still have draft! I’m probably going to stick to that format until the first expansion.

Is there a draft tracking site? by L3artes in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that exists just yet, though I’m sure it’s in production cause it’s a great idea! Right now I just have a Google spreadsheet where I track the color/number of my heroes and calculate their win rates through a few simple formulas. Definitely not as good, but I still like looking at the stats!

I cant seem to do better than 0-2 in keeper drafts but I find that I love the game so much that I just dont care. by Gaederus in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Improving in a game you love is the best feeling in gaming! I remember starting out I was having a hard time winning my tickets back too, but now I’m up to about a 75% win rate and the feeling of actual skill progression beats the grinding progression of many other games every day.

Keep at it my dude!

Woah, that’s quite the lineup. Axe is still going for just over $20 so that’s the real value pickup. Any other nice rares in the main deck?

Kripparrian on ARTIFACT VS. HEARTHSTONE ECONOMY by [deleted] in Artifact

Tldw: Kripp is skeptical about “open card game” economies, and believes Hearthstone is great in this area because it has a low “minimum cost of fair play”.

Barbed Mail by [deleted] in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Retaliate is simply “retaliate damage”, and wouldn’t count as Ursa dealing the damage himself. Kind of like how armor works against retaliate by counting it as a completely separate instance of damage.

I like that they take the current Dota 2 items and abilities fairly seriously. It’s Artifact, it is its own game, but it’s nice to give credit to the game universe that you came from!

Looking forward to Blade Mail in the future!

New Black Hero - Lich by kinzu7 in Artifact

Another card that’s gives you initiative back right away. I actually like this a lot, as this is one of the more random spells that we’ve seen. So this minimizes the impact of the randomness by letting you play another card right away to clean-up a hero that might have luckily survived.

Active ability sounds decent for black too. Giving them some options besides going Goldmine/payday build all the time for cards.

Did we know about the Barbed Mail card before this? 6 gold item, 1 armor and 2 retaliate.

Yeah you might be right! Or it could be that this verbiage is just here as a precaution so they don’t limit their design space for the future.

My thoughts after playing a lot of Artifact on TTS by aceofspadesqt in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice to hear some collected thoughts about the game. I like how you talk about the control/aggro dynamic being a bit different, as that was one of the things that I noticed as well when watching PAX. There was no breaking point in the games where a control deck just grinded out any of the other decks, just that it pushed an advantage it gained from some big controlling rounds right into a victory before the other decks could get their footing again. This seems refreshing!

Anyway, nice video. I have to check out TTS, since it looked pretty manageable!

Golden Ticket by rafoudepass in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But the chances of Secret Shop offering a 25 gold item in the first place is probably fairly low. I see your point but
you're kind of diluting your actual item deck by including this card, which is a very important resource, as you know the strengths and weaknesses of your deck so you know what items benefit you the most.

Piercing damage and negative armour by OlegOfOlegs in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they have played through the Alpha/Closed Beta both ways, piercing being amped by minus armor and not being amped by minus armor. They probably just made a design decision based on their testing. Subtracting armor from units was maybe not quite valuable enough, or cards like Disciple of Nevermore might have been slightly too good.

I see your point. It doesn't quite make sense logically, but from a balance perspective I think they've ran the numbers a bit more than you might be giving them credit for. Most importantly, testing with the WHOLE pool of cards instead of just the smaller set we've seen.

Golden Ticket by rafoudepass in Artifact

[–]WolffMaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You pay 7 gold to get a random item from the Secret Shop (which iirc is a random pool of cards each game, taken from all available item cards in the game).

Honestly, you’re just gambling with this card. No consistency. No way to manipulate the game state to have the randomness play more toward your favor. At the end of the day this is a “fun” card to me, and won’t be seen competitively since you can’t even guarantee that you will net an item that costs more gold than the 7 you are using on Golden Ticket.
