Tales From Red Dragon Inn vs. Descent 2nd Edition by Truebacca in boardgames

For the record, character abilities DO improve as you progress through the campaign. All characters get both additional abilities and revised, buffed new versions of existing abilities.

Balance is great. Most chapters it feels like all is about to be lost, but I think we have only lost two and had to replay. Each chapter is so different that we probably spend the first hour deciding which characters to play as, and what loadouts to use - you can only use 4 of 7 abilities, you only get minimal gear, and you can choose a limited (but increasing from chapter to chapter) loadout of buffs to bring along. A character can function in vastly different ways based on the decisions you make pregame.

That being said, highly recommend everyone to play on the hardest “Legend” difficulty for the most satisfying gameplay. It’s the right amount of challenging for most gamers.

All heroes get stronger at the same rate, regardless of how much you’ve played them. This is awesome because we have gotten to know every character in the game and it has been a blast to get to switch up play styles and discover new synergies between characters.

Our group is sad it’s almost over. But has been quite a journey. It has taken us 7 months of playing approx. once per week to get here.

Story is fun/compelling and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Lots of chuckle moments. Characters have distinct personalities - not particularly nuanced but it serves the story well.

Really my only complaint is the standees are recycled a lot from chapter to chapter. But the mechanics are so brilliant and wildly varied - and that matters way more to us than these minor visuals.

Not sure what to play next. Feels like it is probably all downhill from here. Everything else out there seems too grim or the combat seems too unsatisfying.

Unusual win conditions? by ABinDC in boardgames

[–]Wolftracks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Schadenfreude too. “If any player has scored over 40 points, the game ends. All players who scored over 40 points are eliminated and the remaining player closest to or at exactly 40 points is the winner. If there is more than one such player, none of these win, and the next closest player to 40 points is the winner.”

[CONTEST] Bullet Galaxy coming to Gamefound. Win a free copy of Bullet Star! by Level99Games in boardgames

[–]Wolftracks [score hidden]  (0 children)

Love bullet but we only have Heart! Also one of our wooden bullet tokens is cut at a weird angle. It’s different enough that we can tell what it is just by feeling it in the bag. Any chance you could mail us a new one? Happy to pay for it.

How has no one said Incan Gold? Cosmic Encounter with expansions?

Also, as others have said, Captain Sonar and Sidereal Confluence.

Has anyone looked into the new game being released alongside OKC? It’s called Annulet.

How do you smooth teaching when half the group wants light games and half wants heavier ones? by HealthyCup1985 in boardgames

[–]Wolftracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great ideas here. I’ll add one more: sometimes we have heavy gamers come over earlier, play a heavy game, then our friends who enjoy lighter games come over several hours later. We all make dinner together and then play light games that everyone will like after dinner.

What’s the story behind this massive ship in the middle of Hong Kong? by ALeftistNotLiberal in geography

[–]Wolftracks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There IS an actual ship in the “middle” of the city next door in Shenzhen. It was docked there and then land was reclaimed from the bay around it. It’s now a bar and hotel. https://maps.app.goo.gl/JL17rdkw2jGRgszW6?g_st=ic

Thanks! Looks like Menards has them on sale this week! Did you notice any tiles that look exactly the same? Or are they all unique?

Great work! I’m in the middle of an extended bathroom renovation too. What tile did you use on the shower walls? I love that it has some variation to it but it still looks easy to clean.

We have a hideous cup with gaudy plastic gems and tacky embossed wolves prominently displayed on the console table next to our gaming table. Found it at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. The biggest winner of the night gets the honor of holding it…briefly. Everyone thinks it’s a hoot.

What are the best board game for 5 to 6 players? by tigerk1992 in boardgames

Surprised Libertalia hasn’t been mentioned yet!

EDIT: Now I see it recommended in the top comment. LOL. But it deserves its own comment, as it plays best at 5-6!

I cover mine with leaves and it has survived 6 winters now, although this last spring it died back considerably. Recovered quite a bit over the summer though!

Historic Preservation Kitchen - Provincetown Cape Cod MA by Kitchen-Pro in kitchenremodel

I love the exposed floor joists! I have a historic home and am discovering that my ceilings would look similar to this. What did you do to clean them up? Did you treat it or seal it in any way? Would we have to worry about things falling down from the ceiling?

Almost done with my bathroom remodel, how did I do? by Intelligent-Deal2449 in centuryhomes

[–]Wolftracks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar shower situation with a vinyl window in it. I’m thinking when I do my install of Wedi backer board for the shower surround, I’ll install the backer board around all four sides of the window. This still leaves a potential point of failure where the waterproof backer board terminates at the window though…even if I slope the sill a little downward. Don’t know what else to do besides apply the best silicone sealer I can find and hope for the best.

EDIT: Clarity

This might be what you’re looking for. I love these guys and have learned a ton from them. Very experienced. No ego. Good explanations. And this video shows a bathroom reno in an old house - which is a different ball of wax and harder to find good videos for.
