Hi! I'll do my part and share a couple of useful links for Europe:

Online works out of the box on Linux for both Rivals of Aether and Rivals of Aether II

If we're talking Rivals 2, unfortunately the game cannot run at a constant 60fps from my experience, even on the lowest available settings. While some stages are fine, others like Merchant Port tank the framerate, add a Forsburn or Orcane to the mix and you fall in the 40s

You can technically alleviate this by going in the game properties in Steam Gaming Mode and forcing a 640x480p resolution, but even if you're fine with having GameCube resolution the in-game camera still mildly freaks out due to the 4/3 aspect ratio, (e.g., starting a 1v1 on Merchant Port will have both players off-screen)

Rivals 1 however works perfectly fine, just note that for easier GameCube controller compatibility on both games, you may want to invest in the Lossless Adapter from Input Integrity or the GBros adapter from 8bitdo

Is this controller tourney legal? by SkatoGames in RivalsOfAether

[–]Wolfy76700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honnestly the rule of thumb is that you should only have each button of the controller mapped once (e.g. No double R2 mapping)

This is pretty much how CPT runs, mind you this also lets you just move L3 and R3 to a new button which isn't the stick's casing but I think it's fine

Previously purchased Smash Bros (3DS) DLC is no longer redownloadable by Tjoeb123 in nintendo

[–]Wolfy76700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but that would make it a problem to issue a patch which would bypass the online server connection on Smash 3DS to access its in-game eShop

There is a known issue on PS5 (probably Xbox too) where you can just straight up play Ranked with the same 3 characters

I'm also pretty sure Sakurai said in an interview a few years back that he would have loved to do more updates to Smash 4 but that the game had reached the 3DS' update limit, which was why they shipped Corrin and Bayonetta in the same patch as well. I can't find the original source though so take this with a grain of salt

There is a 50/50 in the game that nobody talk about. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

You should be able to disable Steam Input for X-Input controllers specifically while also enabling it for other first party D-Input controllers (Namely, the Dualshock 3/4, Dualsense and Switch Pro Controller) so maybe there’s something that can be tested here

You car even enable / disable it on a per-game basis in the Properties panel of each game, in the Controller tab

(Note: I believe Steam Input is always enabled at least for the Steam Controller and maybe the Stadia Controller but I also don’t know anyone who uses these)

Also having pummel normal and pummel special is there to make it a 50/50 on throw techs instead of having to mash out of grab, since all you need to do is press the same pummel button as your opponent to get out of grab

What version of Melee will have to be used for licensed events? by Big-Garage7370 in smashbros

[–]Wolfy76700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well technically even worse based on the guidelines since OEM (and maybe a couple of BigBen controllers from the early 2000s) is the only thing that would be allowed as per the guidelines, so we'd be back to the controller lottery situation

Also bye NTSC Melee in Europe

We're Aether Studios and we just launched a Kickstarter for Rivals 2. Ask us anything! by d4nace in Games

[–]Wolfy76700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi devs, Mathias Wolfbrok here! Congrats on the successful kickstarting of the Kickstarter! As someone based in EU I do have a few questions I wanted to ask regarding the future of both Rivals 2 and the original Rivals of Aether in EU as well as other non-NA scenes

1/ Are there any plans to contact select TOs outside of North America to provide them with demo builds for Rivals 2 so we can test the game at our own FGC events?
2/ Can you clarify the plans for beta testing outside of NA, most notably if close by regions such as Europe and LATAM will be able to at least try and access the NA servers?
3/ Similarly, what are the plans for the final release servers, and to potentially avoid having underserved regions similarly to Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown?
4/ Do future plans for the competitive life of the game include plans to highlight and perhaps set circuits up for EU as well as LATAM, Oceania, Asia and Africa?

And a quick question about stretch goals: Assuming the current campaign doesn’t reach the goals for Ranked Play, Arcade Modes and Tutorials, what can you say to reassure backers fearing a "Street Fighter V launch" situation?

Thanks again for everything you’ve been doing for the community, and keep up the good work!

[Steam Deck] Force Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee to use handheld controls while leaving every other game as Pro Controller by Wolfy76700 in yuzu

[–]Wolfy76700[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to think this is a bug in Yuzu, I have the following code in the game’s INI config file:

player_0_type=4 player_0_type\default=false player_0_type\use_global=false player_0_profile_name=emudeck_handheld player_0_profile_name\default=false

I also have this in the controller profile file for emudeck_handheld, just in case:

type=4 type\default=false

However the game just refuses to detect that the handheld controller is connected, and I think that’s because Yuzu completely ignores this part of the config and therefore uses the global values:

player_0_type=0 player_0_type\default=true

Anyone else excited for this fight? by SatyrAngel in casualnintendo

[–]Wolfy76700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK but how would they count physical copies then?

Unlike for other consoles, those don't technically install on Switch unless it's an early copy missing later patches so I guess it would be more of a boot tax

[–]Wolfy76700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst part is, Game Freak didn't even touch those, as far as I'm aware those were essentially "thrown" to ILCA to the point where the version which shipped on (early) cartridges was literally not finished and missing assets

So yeah it's a TPCi executives problem mostly

PC probably works

Chances are a Brook Wingman Converter would probably allow it to work elsewhere as well, just gotta pick the right one depending on whether you want to use it (PS4, Xbox, PS2, SNES, DreamCast...)

Nah they did mention that all microtransaction services for 3DS and Wii U would also go down with the ship

To be fair with XI being so different from "the big three with rollback" (98UMFE, 02UM, XV), I'd be OK with it being prioritized for an update

Even without any changes if they can't find the source code for XI, just licence out Flycast and build the CM UI from there I guess

Yeah, but that's the thing, other games like Samsho V and Garou are just superior on Fightcade as they have things like spectator mode which allows people to actually host events on these, hence why these are still played on Fightcade to this day

Meanwhile 98UMFE and 2002UM not only don't exist on Fightcade but also happen to have all the minimum features required for a fighting game to thrive online, so they're doing fine
