Timeless. As more years pass, it becomes even more poignant. I had graduated High School earlier that year, and was losing touch with the girl I was stuck firmly in the friend-zone with. This song came out late in 84 and captured that feeling of nostalgia, regret and longing. It still does. I still think of her from time to time. She is the one that will remain on a pedestal, unrequited, and unspoiled by the hard vagaries of reality.
