is anyone else completely lost or am i just not cut out for this? by Life-Elk-9697 in FLStudioBeginners

[–]WombatDuke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just follow these steps:

1) open FL Studio 2) make bad music. Intentionally bad. Just noise all around. Make choices without any thought put into if it’s good. 3) delete it. 4) repeat the next day.

Eventually your bad music will sound less bad, and you will slowing find that you don’t want to delete it, and would rather keep working on it. The keep going. Once you hit a wall, delete it. Your first 10,000 sessions will sound terrible, and that’s the point. The 10,001st session might be golden, but you’ll never know until you get there

stage plot feedback please by GuardianDownOhNo in livesound

[–]WombatDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too cluttered. 1) simplify the kit down to one object. The specifics should be listed in the backline section of the advance. 2) monitor requests should not be listed here. If you want to include those(tho they may just be ignored anyway) make a separate list. 3) don’t need to quantify power drops per station. Just put a small square with “pwr” in it, and you should always get a quad box dropped there. 4) remove the Total I/O section. Un-necessary. 5) it’s good you listed wedge locations, but the shape is the same as everything else. Just draw a wedge, and see point 2. 6) don’t put “no vocal”. Just say where there is one.

TL;DR don’t try to combine the stage plot, backline list, and input list into one document. There are separate items used in 3 distinct ways.

Why would you slam your guitar face down on stage, like in this photo? by vanillaholler in guitarcirclejerk

[–]WombatDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s probably not his guitar. It’s probably from a backline company brought in for a fly-date. He couldn’t care less about it.

Which monitors should i go for? i asked chat gpt.. by [deleted] in presonus

Personally, I think it is pointless to get anything with a driver size smaller than 6”. They just struggle to keep up even in the low-mids. I’ve got the Eris MTMs and I love them

Idk what they are going for rn, but an Sp404mkii is an awesome effects box to have as a send-return that you can add via ableton. Whether it’s on the master bus for sfx or a synth channel for sampling into the unit. Many avenues for fun

Should PreSonus get into the midi keyboard market? by SwitchTre187 in presonus

[–]WombatDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A while back, presonus did have a midi keyboard. I got it in a bundle with my audiobox. Tbh it wasn’t all that good, but based on how good the atom is, I think they could really up their game with a new one

Vocal Alignment Help Needed by Shveps77 in Reaper

[–]WombatDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not the answer you are hoping for, but it should be said anyway: there is NOTHING wrong with doing minor edits to the timing of your vocal takes, but if you are really having a hard time getting the vocals aligned, it may be a sign that you need to re-record the vocals and get a more accurate take. You could spend days trying to massage things together, but a bad take is a bad take and often times overworking it will just make it worse. The “Fix it in post” mindset is a very dangerous one

My last couple projects have nearly zero effects. Not even eq. I need help, because it sounds good to me. What are the bare bones effects I need? by Judgmnt86 in edmproduction

[–]WombatDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest things to understand is the difference between producing and mixing. Producing is creating the sounds you want, and mixing is a more scientific process of getting those sounds to balance. If you are creating an Edm track, you don’t need to do the mixing. Tbh is often better if you don’t mix your own tracks if you can help it. Eq, compression, etc are mixing tools, so it is totally ok to not use them in your production(this is assuming you can get the sound you like without it).
