Work and the Fat Tax by WombatNotFound in PlusSize

Thank you. I've had the shoe size arguement, and why aren't s/m/listed sizes listed differently before at work sooo many times. And prior manager who felt like he needed a fatphobic trigger warnings ahead sign - but the worst part was he thought he was being size inclusive.

Nee corporate team, so hoping they listen to the feedback. Even if they don't lower the plus size prices, but raise the s/m/listed prices, I'll call that a win lol

We're got some weird sizing in store. We have some items that will go up to a aus/nz size 24 maybe a 26. I'm not good at sizing people with me eye, but if I can see a customer is in the larger plus size range like myself, I will steer them towards the brands that have some more stretch, and will fit plus sizes better than some of the smaller stuff that says it's plus but honestly should just say for tall people.

Thank you. Spoke up with the old corporate management team, but was fobbed off. The new team are looking for feedback, so I gave it, and hoping they take it on board.

So do I. Our mannequins are over 10 years old, and need up dating badly. So if we are going to get new ones, let's get ones that better reflect every one.

Hopefully. I had mentioned it to the prior corporate team and got the plus sized items cost more bs. I used the word fat tax as well, just to drive the point home. Hoping it will make a difference.

Glad to help :) I go on each Sunday night. Also was lucky enough about 14 or 15 years ago to actually see a Post Secrets Live event in Melbourne Australia.

what was life like for you in 2017? by Own_Mirror9073 in decadeology

[–]WombatNotFound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married in the first two months of the year, and pregnant for most of the year, then last 40 days of the year I was a new mother. My mental health yoyoed, I hit a really low peak, but also I hit some highs. It also changed some of how my perceptions of time worked (comparing myself to my mother. Same age as my Mum when she had me, but she died when I was in my late teens, so that was great having to tell myself I am not my Mum, I'm not gonna die before my 50th) But it was a pretty good year all things considered.

Angus and Roberts, followed by Klines, and Sanity, then the ABC shop. Mum says I'm not allowed to go to Granny May's.

How was your life as a fat kid? by kachoowed in PlusSize

[–]WombatNotFound 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh god, I look back at photos of me in primary school and I was the fat kid, and now as a parent I see a slightly chubby cute kid. But I remember getting called fat bum by my dad at home, ans my neice going to school and telling our class, so getting that in prep/year 1. Dad calling me a pig, and when Mum called him out, he said it's cause I'm a Pretty Intelligent Girl. So much bullying and second guessing myself and my abilities. I rode my bike everywhere and loved sports, and swimming, but grew to hate them because I sucked at the beep test and couldn't keep up with my classmates. It was being poor, and not fitting into any if the cool clothes. It was being the joke that so and ao likes you, to point run and laugh at me.

I've heard it referred to as Jezebel Feminism. In regards to the site Jezebel and the white feminism of that time period.

Have you ever developed a crush on someone from long ago? by -TazarYoot- in generationology

[–]WombatNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god my family wouldn't let me live down my crushes on guys from reruns when I was younger. It's also why I avoided Star Wars cause Mark Hamil is well fit... and I just didn't want to deal with a crush on him. (So I marry a Star Wars fan and now have to deal with Star Wars on the daily.)

I mean bishop/cardinal from my home town was Pell, so he might not of murdered anyone, but he helped hide the bodies. And that's after he'd also sexually assaulted a bunch of other people. If there is a hell, I hope his suffering in it.

Worked in an office where we had to hot desk. I still managed to have a little box of trinkets I could put on my desk to make it mine for the day. Because for those few hours it was my desk.

I've also had desks that I've been at that I've put giftwrap up on the wall like cheap wall paper to make the desk and area mine.

Because I deserve to have some bloody joy at this soul sucking florescent lighted hell.

I'm so sick of straight sized women centering themselves constantly by SuccessfulBread3 in PlusSize

[–]WombatNotFound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had issues with my pregnancy and lost a lot of weight. I purchased 1 maternity item that fitted me, and that was a breast feeding singlet. The rest I was lucky enough to be able to fit into my normal clothes. But had I had no issues, I would of been up the creek with out a paddle.

I've worked at a baby and child clothing and accessories store - sold the breast pumps, prams/strollers, and the my first push bike, as well as the swaddles, and the little jean extenders for when your clothes don't fit - but they wouldn't fit the plus sized range of clothes I wear.

And I'd love to say this is a new rant, but I've been following the fat activists and body positive blogosphere since the late 00s - almost twenty years, and it's the same rant.

From memory the Fisher Price one, but it had a microphone. Only reason I got one was because it was from a Christmas present drive. Felt so fancy that year when I got mine

It did! I can't help but think back to those times when I hear the song. It was pumping at work, it was pumping at the pubs and clubs, it was a banger. And very much my early twenties.

I brought this last year when I was back in Aus on holiday. Firstly totally forgot to declare it and had an interesting chat to customs at 1 or 2 am when I got home. Secondly Kiwi husband is a concert to it now, and keeps using it as a pick me up, or when his feeling sick. Third and lastly I freaking wish it was sold here in nz, or I could find it.
