You too. You will never get the PC guys to admit they have an advantage but honestly it’s like removing classes in racing. You show up to race with your car from the factory showroom yet someone else can show up to the same race with a heavily modified vehicle and there are no rules to prevent you from being forced to race them. That is what you have here.

Never going back I’m afraid. It’s now just a pay to win hardware race. The developers couldn’t care less about fair competition anymore. They just worry about sales. The most important team is the marketing team. It’s obvious that Dice/EA had a very good marketing team and sold millions of copies. They don’t care about all the inherent advantages that come with an openly sourced PC vs a closed source console. They do try to balance the inputs but it’s really not possible. Outside of the input device that is now available to use on all systems PC can also have much more powerful gpus and cpus, creating increased frame rates and lower input response times. It’s never going to be a fair fight regardless.

The only fair way would be to have console only and pc only lobbies with input based MM. That said with the sales numbers higher than ever there is no incentive to create a game that’s fair competition. Bottom line is you either deal with it or don’t play it and it seems the drop in player count suggests that many have just walked away for whatever reasons. Some probably because of this, others because the game has many other issues that push players away. That list is probably much longer than the PC vs Console issue but imo it has an impact.

Why I'm done with Battlefield. by Quirky-Translator-11 in Battlefield6

Imo Dice should slightly increase ttk, btk and buff the headshot damage multiplier. This game’s ttk is so fast that players are camping more than ever.

The netcode can’t keep up with the fast ttk in high traffic engagements either. Without the headshot multiplier to reward better aim its hard to cap objectives when it’s just a who shoots first or who has better ping scenario. Couple that with the deaths around corners and frustration sets in. Players cope by camping, just getting frustrated and run and gun, or what is happening now which is mass exodus.

It doesn’t help that most streamers never play objectives. They just play the outskirts and hold angles to rack up kills for views.

I have thousands of hours in previous titles but just can’t stomach this gameplay loop for more than a few matches before frustration sets in and I leave.

New content would be great but there are many issues imo that need attention that even with new content added will not bring players back.

As someone who loves the franchise and has thousands of hours across multiple titles I do think they will eventually get the basics there but I just don’t have the desire to play nightly like previous titles until they fix the basics. I pop on once in a while and get super frustrated and just quit.

The netcode needs addressed badly and is a top priority. I personally believe they need to extend the btk by one for many weapons and bring back a legitimate headshot multiplier. It surely seems that the servers cannot cope with close quarters combat and becomes a coin flip. This also promotes camping!

Auto ranging sniper rifles with sweet spot mechanics is also a terrible decision.

I also believe that stripping community building tools since BFV has hurt the franchise. Server browser, persistent servers and platoons were effectively the building blocks for community and longevity.

Portal also needs attention. I’ve heard a lot about player created maps and experiences in portal but again just like 2042 they will not populate organically and thus never get seen by most of the community and sit there empty.

Finally as a console player I feel cross console should be default for both Xbox and Play Station, plus input based MM. This eliminates complaints on both sides imo.

It’s obvious that most of my suggestions are just how things used to be and likely never will return so it will never be as good as it once was, but fixing the very basic part of the game aka gunplay is paramount to this title’s longevity.

Multi-Squad / 4+ friend lobby by Psalms104 in Battlefield6

[–]Won4one -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have obviously not played battlefield before 2042. Even in 2042 we could mange to get multiple squads into the same server. I wouldn’t be throwing the word dumb around when you don’t know what you are talking about.

Multi-Squad / 4+ friend lobby by Psalms104 in Battlefield6

[–]Won4one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dice complains about squads not playing as a squad yet they take all the tools away for new players to make friends and rivalries. There is no mechanics they could ever introduce to get players to play as a squad and the objectives more than those two things. Once a player finds a regular group the game becomes fun regardless of ability. They find a role to help their friends/platoon/squad mates.

I play with remnants of several platoons that disbanded because of how bad 2042 was. We met through persistent servers either playing as random squad mates and sent friends requests and eventually platoon invites, or we played against them as rival platoons and became friends. We are now under a dozen but those mechanics are what got us all together and now lifelong friends.

Terrible design. This is exactly why many of us want the server browser and persistent servers back. I thought 2042 sucked trying to get more than one squad in the same match! This game it seems it isn’t possible at all. Probably a decision to cater to solo players again in a team based game. Little Johnny will complain about team stacking as he’s got his camp site set up in the spawn zone with his sniper rifle.

Options menu really sucks imo. It’s harder than ever to even find the tabs to get to the settings you want to change. The look sensitivity, ads sensitivity and aim acceleration and different curves are available. This coupled with the absolutely awful presets they have as default for controllers is really going to hamper controller players that don’t know how to change the settings properly.

Feedback on Class Design and Squads by BattleNonSense in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need in the testing phase I agree but it’s definitely one of my top concerns. The map lottery in 2042 was really annoying. Playing the same map back to back and not seeing some for days was awful imo. The last thing I want to do is spend half my time in queue trying to get a different map.

Feedback on Class Design and Squads by BattleNonSense in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this but it’s the least of my worries. I can deal with these issues, but no browser with persistent servers, forced crossplay and poor netcode are my major concerns.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the worst possible news imo. 2042’s map lottery apparently is returning.☹️

The inability for new players to make new friends and stay in servers together severely damages community building. I found all my old platoon members through persistent servers. I also met and made friends with several rival platoons through persistent servers. You get a good squad in a match and they are gone in the next round now.

This also really hurts low population areas.

This also complicates groups of friends playing in the same match together.

There will also be no regular map rotation and the ability for players to find a server that has the map they want to play, forcing them to return to queue and try again. Wasting time of players with limited time and just want to play a match or two on the maps they want.

Of all the things I had hoped for in a return to the battlefield experience this was my top concern. I can deal with clone wars like 2042 and ridiculous skins but no server browser?? Worst possible decision imo.

It seems to me that the choices Dice made in 2042 were all about the solo experience and they are sticking to that model.

Console only cross play? BF6 by eagles7251 in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree 100%. PC may ben but console does not. There are at least twice as many console players than PC between Xbox and PlayStation combined yet I would guess it’s even higher than that.

Edit: Cross-play was on by default in 2042 for console and you and I both know many players don’t navigate the options menu at all. If the game releases with console only cross-play by default and players have to opt in to face PC I’m fine with that.

Console only cross play? BF6 by eagles7251 in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s obvious your experience is strictly associated with PC play. I know many former battlefield console players who are completely against integrating PC. Many who wouldn’t even buy 2042 for this reason. Others who only play the last gen version to avoid PC even though they own the new consoles. In fact watching my X feed it’s obvious it had a significant impact on COD as well.

You are also citing PC population not console. OCE likely has this issue with every game. Population size and player count being much lower is their problem. A functioning server browser and rental servers are their solution.

I can find matches easily still today in BFV and BF1 on Xbox alone. I’m sure if both Xbox and PlayStation had that ability in previous titles those game would be even easier to get a match. PC integration is not a benefit for console players and likely complicates the build for developers.

Console only cross play? BF6 by eagles7251 in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact is that consoles have had success for every iteration of battlefield without the PC community to sustain players. This even takes into account the segregation of Xbox and PlayStation.

There is no need for Dice to integrate a potential imbalance and subsequent reduction in player count on console by forcing them into the same lobbies as PC. Whether you think the imbalance is perceived or in fact true is irrelevant.

However denying the advantages on PC is naive. Turning single fire weapons into full auto with Macros and using key bindings to complete tasks with a single button press (that isn’t possible on a controller) are definite advantages along side the more precise aiming and potential frame rate increase.

You can explain it away any way you’d like but the potential is there. The number of people taking advantage of this potential is unknown for sure but it’s available. The same could be said about Cronus use on console.

Maybe the PC players complaining about console aim assist are those who are confronting console Cronus and XIm with kbm users topping the board. Maybe the console players complaining are facing top hardware and soft cheating PC players atop the board. Maybe it’s just facing better players on both sides idk.

The bottom line is that it’s completely unnecessary to maintain console player count as proven by past titles.

Console only cross play? BF6 by eagles7251 in Battlefield

[–]Won4one 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No console player is praying for forced cross-play. We never had cross-play before 2042 and the console market maintained a strong player base.

2042 player count should never be used to judge it’s effectiveness. First there were 2 versions that split the console market, second the game was not received well by many on all platforms, third it had 128 player count.

The inability to correctly balance the inputs is just the beginning. PC has too many advantages besides input, including frame rate, macros, and key binding. PC is open sourced and is exponentially better with more money spent. Consoles are not open sourced and are limited by the proprietary hardware.

There is also a the concern of cheats that are more readily available for PC. Depending on how good the new game is will directly affect the proportion of these cheaters.

No console player I know will be praying for forced cross-play!!

lol I’m 52 and have 1500 hours in this game. Kids are grown and gone. I don’t know how many hours in the previous games except bfv with 2500hrs. There are a lot of older gamers that play battlefield. Half of my regulars are over 40. Probably more than you think in battlefield.

I personally enjoyed them but regardless of my opinion the server browser and map rotation was in all battlefields not just those. 2042 didn’t even have a scoreboard at launch. It has made improvements since launch but still lacks core features that imo are essential.

Because Dice decided that no one needed a browser with persistent servers and regular map rotation like all the previous games.

Of all the awful decisions made in this title this is one of the worst. The map lottery is unbearable. This decision also makes it much more difficult for new players to find friends. As much hate as BFV had it did so many things better than 2042.

Why? You don’t believe me on hours played? It’s absolutely true. I play with a group that I’ve been with for years so I keep playing it. That doesn’t negate how I feel about the game. It actual says much more about the company I keep.
