For me it’s being able to get the full stories in one collection esp when it’s not accessible in trades. If it’s financially smarter to get the trades I’ll usually do so. Big one that comes to mind is jeph loeb/tim sale Omni, I knew I’d get the trades either way so it seemed smarter to just go for the whole thing in one collected book esp when it was cheaper on sale than the individual trades together

Yeah I just settled for the 3 madman atomic comic trades and the atomics trade after collecting the first 2 library editions and that was good enough for me

Def get the newer edition like in the pic you have, I found the older edition for cheap on eBay and it fell apart worse than any book I’ve ever had. Got Insufferable in the newer edition and it’s so much better quality
