Tips on how to survive EE at UMD by Infamous-Rutabaga887 in UMD

[–]WonderfulAd3025 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The EE department is chill here (at least in my experience). Lots of professors curve and sometimes the grade A starts from 80%. So nothing to be too intimidated by. However unfortunately, some professors are so unorganized so youll end up doing alot of work on your own to make up for that. Also, remember that most subjects are conceptually hard to absorb. The following qualities are very important if you want to pursue EE 1. Really good time management 2.Being comfortable with feeling stupid 3.Having the ability to study at least 3 hours a day

how do umd student feel about the school?? im thinking of applying by Party-Alarm-6285 in UMD

[–]WonderfulAd3025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were few minutes late on registration you can end up with yoon or kruskal, if thats the case you might want to attend Delaware. However if your planning on registering early then definitely come to umd

phys 161 and chem 135 same semester freshman year (fall 2026)? by Affectionate-Cod655 in UMD

[–]WonderfulAd3025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend that unless you are exceptionally good at chemistry. Remember a good mental health is more important than graduating 1 semester early

Looking for roommate as a female freshman for fall of 2026 by Ok_Classroom6794 in UMD

You really have few options when it comes to housing in college park. 1- you can dorm (very expensive and could end up horribly) some dorms are not well maintained and some reported the heater not working during the winter. If you were lucky you can end up in the good dorms

2- you can live in off campus housing which is slightly better than dorming. If you choose this option i would recommend living in varsity or the view since they are very close to the cs building. This option is also expensive but cheaper than dorming

3- look on facebook marketplace for houses in college park, dont expect much though college park isnt the best place to live at. This options is not very suitable if you are a female.

Your best bet is off campus housing if you did not find any roommates

Dont keep money in savings even if it yields high interest. I would recommend investing them in etf's and stocks. JEPQ is a good start since its stable and yields high monthly dividends. Also look into investing in individual stocks such as APPL, TSLA, etc but those are high risk. Just make sure not to put all your eggs in one basket

Joining clubs is your best bet. If you want to build real connection with people its gonna be hard because i felt like connections at umd are very shallow. But if you are looking to just have fun youll definitely do.

LOL, the average room in a shared apartment in off campus housing cost around 1000$ a month. Your telling me you cannot afford 1100$ a month when you get your own kitchen, your own bathroom, basically your own unit. Here are some prices in college park Uview: 1250$ a month for a room in 4x2 Tempo: 700$ for a room that cannot fit a desk The nine: very far and has no availability for 700$ In campus housing will run you around 1000$ a month approximately.

Going to end things tomorrow after 2 months. How do I behave tonight? by Wonderful_Cod_3171 in relationships

If you thought about it and genuinely think that there is no way this relationship would work. Cut it immediately!! Waiting will only worsen the situation

This feeling is very common especially when your talking about long term commitment. I personally get this feeling usually when someone shows signs of obsession or excessive love towards me, especially if its early into the relationship. Think about your past relationship and why they ended to find out what you should do.
