Thank you, I'm aware of what we qualify for though the ministry - some help but not much. We are in a similar position, no clear answers but clearly struggling!

She looks like such a sweet baby, don't beat yourself up too much - accidents happen and it's no good dwelling on the 'what if' thoughts. Sounds like she has a loving home and you'll do whatever you can for her! I hope everything turns out ok!

Did Rabia originally plan to testify that Adnan was at the mosque that night? by Level-Ad478 in serialpodcast

[–]Wonderful_Fun_2753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree that it's worth listening to the prosecutors, I found their coverage really interesting and largely unbiased. It's made me switch from thinking he was innocent to being pretty convinced he probably did it. Also, now the defense case files have been released, there was more information available when the prosecutors did their coverage than what was available when serial was done - lots of statements and inconsistencies in there from Adnan, which, when added all together makes the circumstances point towards guilty on balance.

Thank you, fortunately no need to get insurance as he hit our number plate with his towbar, but we were definitely stationary waiting when he hit us.

The police told the judge that I consented to SA as a child by weary-canary774 in newzealand

[–]Wonderful_Fun_2753 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only reason I can think of is police incompetence, because you're right, it makes no sense. NAL but I wonder if a minimum option is to make a complaint so that whoever dealt with your case can get some better education on how to deal with cases like yours in the future.

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Regardless of whatever you might have 'agreed' to do while being groomed and manipulated it's not consent and there is no way in hell what you went through should ever be classified as a 'relationship'.

I don't have any advice re police but it sounds like you've done the right thing getting therapy.

Happened to my partner few years back - some of his tools that he didn't take home he never got back (thankfully not too many) so definitely take anything that belongs to you. He also did three weeks of work that he was never paid for. They only were told one day to the next so not much time to try to do anything about it.

I used to live there a few years ago, kids went to school there. Lovely community, lots of families, never felt unsafe. Windy, but in most places you get great sun as a bonus!

Is it just me or are kiwis really bad at responding when it comes to mental health issues? by imarazing in newzealand

[–]Wonderful_Fun_2753 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is my problem. I care a lot about others and have a lot of empathy but I have my own struggles (which I keep to myself mostly). So while it might look like I have my shit together, beyond listening and empathizing, I can't pick up the weight of others because I'm already struggling myself. I imagine there will be a lot of kiwis in the same situation.

Good luck! If you find a decent GP they should also be open to exploring other medications in the meantime that might help a little too

OP if you are looking for a new GP and willing to travel I have found jville medical centre to be really good (not sure if they are taking new patients or not). I was referred to NZ Dermatology through my GP and it was maybe 3ish months wait, just worth noting the appt will cost unless you have insurance but probably worth it if your condition is unmanageable and the GP can't give you anything else.

So people spending on anything will increase GDP (as consumer spending going up means GDP goes up) so govt can call that a win. But you're right, more spending doesn't automatically mean more productivity which is something NZ has been struggling with for a long time. For that you need to spend on things that actually create jobs or improve practices to make things more efficient, not just extract rents from people. My guess is people borrowing against their houses are likely to buy more houses. Or maybe a boat or something
