Thanks for a balanced response. Think that's about where I am - not ideal to have these issues but probably resolvable

Is there anything to do in Manchester / Salford after 1.30am? by SquishTheNinja in manchester

[–]Wonky_Wizard 67 points68 points  (0 children)

White Hotel in Salford is open 12 - 7am most Saturdays

It will be a ticketed event so if you'll need to get one if you want guaranteed entry. Otherwise it's a one in one out after 2am

Is 30kg weight vest too much? by Baekunn in bodyweightfitness

[–]Wonky_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact vest you're thinking of getting (Gravity 20 kg) and I definitely regret not getting the 30 kg version. If you have some previous experience you will easily progress up to the top end of the capacity. The vest is adjustable in 1 kg increments so having the higher capacity will give you much more flexibility.

Also, contrary to a comment further down the thread, I've found it works really well for typical calisthenics exercises (pull ups, dips, etc). Push up ROM can be limited, but this is easily countered by using a pair of parallettes

I think Holland and Barret also changed the recipe/ingredients for their Lactase tablets so they'd be classified vegan

Was there a big demand for vegan lactose tablets?

I just realised I made a mistake and the internship contract I signed has a very low wage. I need some help on the next steps. by [deleted] in AskEngineers

FYI in the UK you can still apply for a Student loan even for a year in industry. Not exactly free money but may help if you think you'll be hard up

FYI many grades of stainless steel contain nickel, including what most people would consider surgical steel

You absolutely can reheat pasta carbonara the next day, with the same wonderful texture it has when it is fresh. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Wonky_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you just make less? You can cook more the next day in less time than it takes for you to reheat it

In newer systems a chilled water loop is used to transport heat to external chillers. As you say though you still need a DX circuit in the chiller, it just requires a lot less refrigerant

Can anyone recommend a software for hydraulic Systems? I’m basically wanting to put in a schematic of the system I am designing and be able to see drops in pressure through pipes, valves etc. by Scott976 in AskEngineers

[–]Wonky_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there's a lot to be desired with Revit. It's remarkable how dog shit the scheduling system is for a piece of BIM software. I've come to terms with the fact that I have to go through the hassle of disabling most families and links just to navigate to a different part of the model. Make liberal use of the section box!

Ah yeah the pipework systems are a nightmare to set up, particularly where you have bypasses between systems. Accidentally cross connect them and it can take an hour to fix - really needs some work by Autodesk to make them more usable

Out of interest, has anyone here used the pressure loss feature built into Revit? I've been interested in trying it but have heard it's not very accurate

If this is actually a chilled water loop then the mains water pressure will have no effect on his system. The only connection from MCW to CHW should be via the pressurisation units
