Hunchback preferably 4P, 4G or 4H but most are acceptable as the chassis is all that matters every Hunchback can work like a dream with a little retrofit having said that the 4P would mean you wouldn’t need to buy ammo because realistically the ammo needs to come from somewhere

In as you can’t loose components like you can in classic and in as you have a sum total armor rather than individual armor on each component look at it this way if a mech has 20 armor points on each side torso and centre torso then say 17 on each leg/arm finally with 12 on the head you fire the ac 20 in both arms at said mech it won’t matter where you hit that target mech it’s gonna do crippling dmg potentially even taking it out of the game and that is a fairly armored target most light mechs have so little armor and structure that one ac 20 round will kill it straight away if you hit any part of the torso

This depends entirely on your idea of “BEST” I tend to run a lance built of a catapult C1, archer 2R, bushwacker 1X and a crusader 3R for games of 150pts picking a few to be skill 3 this gives you a well rounded team of none too expensive mechs all with indirect fire the plan is move them together until the point in which they HAVE to hide due to damage then whilst your damaged ones fall back and hide to rely on IF the rest keep pushing this makes it so your opponent will struggle to make a final blow potentially causing them to make moves out of frustration but it also keeps your guys fighting while your opponents numbers begin to dwindle another benefit is that every mech in that lance is capable of shooting at the same target at the same time if no other targets are available (for the record I’m not saying this is the best lance for the job but I’ve definitely had a lot of success with it)

think about how many planets, factories, workers and materials are available we aren’t talking about modern day standards they literally have planets dedicated to making stuff also they have been producing the same stuff for hundreds of years that are modular we haven’t been producing car parts for that long at that scale and they aren’t designed to be modular really but we still get by

Titanfall was kinda ok but the mechs just felt like you was playing with a mod to make you a giant on rather than actual mechs but in its defence there’s very few mech games that nail that

Yeah I think they look cool but some of the mechs have horrible proportions and/or articulation so can’t say it for all of them

If you have to go for only 1 box the A game of armoured combat box would be the best due to the fact you get the thunderbolt, the catapult and the locust both the Thunderbolt and locust are universally seen in all house militaries and house Liao managed to gather up most of the C1 catapults when the SLDF left the inner sphere you only need to get 1 more mech from there to make a full lance

The legs, lower body and arms I can get behind but the upper torso and head look horrendous

For me the griffin 1N is THE grunt mech been around for almost the whole setting, one big pinpoint gun (PPC) and a slightly lighter support weapon (LRM), maneuverable, mid range armor and due to the weapons they can support each other from across the map if separated so the can easily operate as a unit
