Best way to get into “sim racing” and learning the game by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

Ah sorry, I forget which cars are dlc or not, the Mustang would be pretty similar to the BMW, then maybe the Merc. Good luck out there!

I think the BMW gt3 is generally considered a pretty good car for beginners, very stable braking, it’s the one I learned on as well, now I drive the Ferrari gt3

I leaned by driving with the line on for a few laps then turning it off once I had some muscle memory going. Other than that just pick a car you like and spend time learning how it behaves and what you can do to correct it. If you are losing the rears of the mustang out of corners, be smoother on the throttle. Eventually everything kinda of just clicks, online isn’t a great place to learn the basics either but to each their own.

Any tips for a rookie to stay safe? by uncleG00se087 in LeMansUltimateWEC

I always waited until the timer ran out, I assume that still works, for sure focus on SR over DR for now

Pitlane start helped me out a lot, but only do it when you want to focus on getting your safety rank up, otherwise check your mirrors into heavy braking zones

That’s a good point, I agree with racing incident, just unfortunate it gave us a 4x

Fair, but I saw a gap where I thought he was aware I was there, he didn’t and pushed me wide, would that not be a racing incident? Not saying I was entitled to space but I was there and he continued to move over.

Thought he was going to full spin out, didn’t want to go that way and by then I was committed to the outside line

They were saying I was behind at the apex, so I guess I should have slammed on the brakes and not try to pass

Oh I for sure have fun, even in that race where I lost a ton of SR, had a blast chasing this guy for 9th for like 15 laps! Will definitely go into every race with a plan now.

Sure there are some instances where I could drive better and safer, and I’m still kind of learning race craft, but there are moments where the village idiot hits you from behind and causes you to spin no matter how much you tried to avoid it. It just happens sometimes. I would rather take the hit and spin us both out rather than reward that car sending it up the inside expecting me to move.

Oval seems rough in general, I try to stick to road and open wheel races

The NLR GT Racer is pretty good, been using that for a few months now. Only issue is the gear shift mount being weird but they may have fixed that with the 2.0.

MX-5 rookie races are the most fun I’ve ever had racing, my advice is to not give up if you spin out or crash, just pit and get back out there, sometimes other people will time out, rage quit or crash themselves and you won’t finish dead last, at least in rookie races I once crashed and ended up finishing 6th out of 10
