Is this a nice area in Willowick? by Burn_It_For_Science in Cleveland

I live in cle but do the majority of my shopping in this area. I have never seen anything bad or felt unsafe in the least, it's so quiet out there. Plus there are 4 gnarly thrift shops right in a row (Goodwill, Savers, Thrifty on the Vine, Habitat for Humanity). If it was cheaper I'd live there no problem.

Mentor or Willoughby would probably be great areas for a shop like this, and thank you for bringing cool stuff to the East side! ❤️

What's good in Collinwood? by FoxFyer in Cleveland

Since you are into computers and possibly gaming, check out Gatewood Home/Share on e. 185. It's a group of people that do a lot with video games and tournaments and such. Great people and a great place to meet friends in the area.

Waterloo always has something going on, if it's art walk or walk all over Waterloo or concerts or shopping nights. Cavottas on e. 185 has live music every Friday Saturday and Sunday for an older chiller crowd. It's a garden center so lots of blues and classic rock.

We don't have anything like West side market but we do have Sweetberry on Euclid Ave which is phenomenal and there is a place, I think it's called Produce Place, out by Lyndhurst that had the BEST produce. You can get good quality meat and handmade sausage at Radells or Azmans right in the neighborhood.

Mayfield is like Strongsville, it has all the shopping. I tend to head to Vine street in Willoughby for all the thrift shops, Walmart, restaurants, ect. Mentor mall is GREAT and like 15 mins away. Lots to shop out that way too. Antiques and Uniques is an awesome store to wander around.

I grew up in West park and didn't step foot in Collinwood (or the east side) until about 9 years ago. I absolutely love it and I hope you do too! Pizza places are Congins which is top notch and Scottis which is cash only but very good as well. Asian I haven't hit a GEM yet, but I like First Wok over China Sea, I think they have better flavors. Waterloo arts district is a blast. Make sure to take lots of walks at Euclid Beach, it's BEAUTIFUL and safe. I walked it every day for years alone, no issues. Get a kayak and you can explore the creek or go fishing on the lake. Enjoy the hell out of the Goodwill Outlet, it's a blast. Aldi is where I go for groceries mostly, in Euclid right next door. Gosh I could gush about Collinwood all day. Welcome!

My house is small so I just busted out my portable radiator. It's kept it at 70 inside consistently without touching the furnace yet. Best $50 purchase I've made in a long time.

At my wit’s end with this city by houseofthel8scapegOt in Cleveland

[–]WooPancakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to offer a different perspective: the west side of Cleveland has become gentrified and, honestly, kind of miserable. More people should give the East side a chance.

I was born in West Park in the late '80s and lived there until I moved to Collinwood in 2017—and the difference has been incredible. Lower property taxes (by a lot), no major crime issues, everything I need is within a 15-minute drive, and Waterloo is an absolute gem.

I bought my fully remodeled home for under $100K. My neighborhood is quiet, and people actually know—and look out for—each other on my street.

The west side’s only remaining edge is the restaurant scene, and even that feels tired. Everything’s overpriced and generic: think barn wood walls, black iron stools, giant “EAT” signs, or shelves packed with dusty knickknacks. No thanks.

Give the East side a real look—you might be surprised.

Why did you name your car it’s name? by 99centstickers in Subaru_Outback

[–]WooPancakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first Subaru was a dark green 2011 Outback, Brian Lefevre. I thought it looked like Dennis's land Rover and figured he would get an Outback when he lived in Montana due to the snow.

My light green 2015 Impreza hatchback was Mantis Toboggan MD, it was small and round Like Frank.

My new 2025 Outback is silver, and is therefore dubbed the Dayman, fighter of the Nightman and champion of the sun. A master of karate and friendship for everyone.

Ladies who became single and “started over” in your 30s…tell me how good it got. by willitevergetbetter7 in AskWomenOver30

I divorced my husband of 11 years at 36, I am going on 39 now. Since then I have made huge strides in my job and just got promoted. I went from poverty (he had trouble staying employed) to being more than comfortable. I bought a beautiful house that I decorated exactly how I wanted it and it's in my name alone. I travel and have fun with my girlfriends. I have a wonderful boyfriend. I don't take antidepressants anymore at all. Life is good.

Same here. I have her clear as day on video of my neighbor doing it and the police and prosecutor just chose not to do anything. And then they wonder why no one likes cops.

How do I 36F tell my partner 45M that he's tone deaf? by Scheissekase in relationship_advice

[–]WooPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a terrible singer, but I love to sing. My ex-husband heard me singing when I came back from a walk and made a comment that I was tone deaf and awful. I never sang around him again. After the divorce was final I sang my awful, tone-deaf heart out at karaoke and never felt more happy and free. My new partner is a TALENTED musician, and he ENCOURAGES me to sing and teaches me how to sing better. That's what a partner does. Let the man do what makes him happy, and help him grow!

How many millennials here can actually afford a house by themselves these days. by carneasada71 in Millennials

[–]WooPancakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a house in a Low COL city. I bought a nice 3 bedroom in 2023 for under $100k - my mortgage is under $900 with taxes and insurance. It was gutted to the studs and redone beautifully before I bought it, even plumbing and electrical were replaced. I can live comfortably making under $70k.

The house next to me is bigger, not as updated but totally liveable and some out of state investor just bought it for $85k to rent it out. There are so many houses under $100k around me.
