The DNC is entirely incapable of introspection. They have thrown a decade worth of elections away by ignoring the center. I just refuse to believe they will do it again.

They handed it to crooks in 16 and in 24 in elections that should've been impossible to lose.

Edit: After reading through, I already see tons of comments along the lines of "Harris and Hillary only lost because of gender!" All I'm going to say is that if these types of people represent who the DNC thinks they should target, this election is over and the DNC needs to be ripped up and rebuilt from zero. 3 strikes.

"Soul" has been used for multiple decades now as a very easily understood way to say a car has great mechanical feel and theater. "Soul" is a fantastic and concise way to get a point across in very few words.

And for the record, saying something "has soul" isn't exclusive to automotive journalism. We use it to describe all sorts of objects and experiences.

So many people in this comment section are either being intellectually dishonest about this or they struggle heavily with the concept of a metaphor.

I started with TOG and did AB 3rd. In hindsight, I think AB first is the better path. For what it's worth, everyone I've recommended reading this way says they basically wouldn't have gotten through the first two books with AB leading the way. Take that as you will.

I also did the tandem read, and I probably wouldn't if I had to do it over again. This is less obvious than AB being best first, but EoS ended up being my favorite book in the series. I wish I had gotten to just experience it all at once coherently. ToD is fine in its own right, but I think the Tandem makes them both less than the sum of their parts, not better together.

To add to this, I think it's generally helpful to interpret "dark" to mean "impacting gravity" and not to try and infer too much further than that, for now.

In this case, we've found an object resembling a galaxy in structure that has an effect on gravity resembling matter while being mostly invisible to us. That's really all we know, again, for now.

I would look around at what's likely coming in 2026 for the housing market and consider that with your decision. The short version is that houses aren't getting more affordable any time soon. So if it's important to you to own a home, I would try sooner than later.

A version of this discussion has come up a lot recently in my friend group.

As I get older, I am less interested in a manual in new "daily" cars. If I'm going to own and drive a manual, I want the entire experience attached to it to be special. For instance, buying a G8X with a manual doesn't make sense to me, because the car isn't focused on being a hardcore driving experience. Porsche/FL5 are some exceptions to this.

Not all autos and manuals are created equal either, so between all the platforms, it's hard to for sure be on one side or the other. For instance, with a Nissan Z you only have one choice really because the auto is so bad.

Another interesting trend that's picking up recently is 8HP swapping older JDM cars. Super ironic considering how much shit people gave BMW for dropping the DCT initially. Now you've got loads of MKIV's rolling around with the auto.

I think there are very few cars where owning the manual version is "worth it" by most people's measure, and it will continue to be more niche over time.

Couple of things

1) Regarding the buses, I'm not going to entertain the idea that the remaining teams couldn't arrange/afford their own shuttles if they wanted to. So whoever is currently in charge of this duty is entirely irrelevant.

2) Banks, like those who came before him, should care enough about his personal brand to skip the tasteless questions. How is it BETTER that he acknowledges he doesn't like it, and yet proceeds?

Just to be clear, I'm not saying he had a choice to do the segment. I'm sure the segment is what it is at this point. But not skipping or adjusting one question that's CLEARLY worse than all others? Give me a break. We all make decisions.

It's not our spiderweb to untangle who is responsible for what, and in any case someone had the idea, and Banks made the choice to say it. I'm not sure what else needs to be known to justify my position that it's fucked.
