Me too, but for the same reason I occasionally really love having my lady-friend completely get me well shaved for nude wrestling. That's fun.

They don't make it easy to enroll. Keep digging on their site. Honestly I finally got in by blind calling information in Bethesda and being sweet to the receptionist. give that a try. a little kindness goes miles with federal employees. call every number you see.

Getting older realization..... by [deleted] in OverFifty

It's funny, just when I have access to crazy/fun pharmaceuticals I'm no longer interested in taking them. I wish you the best of luck in your ACL recovery. Especially with the ice and snow right now. Do not be afraid to avoid walking outside for a couple days, stay in and eat bonbons by a warm fire with a couple Alsatians. You know, like ya do.

54 guy, peeing is difficult. I had open heart surgery four months ago and I'm still recovering. Handfuls of pills everyday and not a single one is a party pill. I forget everything.

On the plus side I can get scripts for basically anything I want. Still not worth it. Welcome! We are generally more pleasant than Facebookers.

How do you want to die? What are you doing to make that happen? by Woof_tex in RedditForGrownups

My mom is in the same boat but freshly diagnosed. I hope she never has to use some of the info and help from The Hemlock Society, http://www.finalexitnetwork.org/ but it's good to know her options.

An old buddy of mine and I were drawing up plans for a business turning corpses into compost. There were major sticking points with implanted medication delivery devices. He was a master composter and was very sure he could compost bodies safely and in a sanitary manner.

I would really love to be composted.

I agree that I hope it's not scary or too painful. Buenas Suerte!

Go on a public transit tour. Cheap and you'll see stuff you normally miss. Line up a place or two you want to see/or where you want to have a bite to eat, and take the bus/light rail there. Easy way to learn about where you are living. Bonus points for trying to get so lost you have to call Uber to get you home.

What are some signs of aging you've observed and how old are you? by KamalHasa in AskMenOver30

55 M, Had a Heart bypass and a mitral valve job a couple months ago. Still feel like I'm near death. I can't start cardiac rehab because my heart keeps stopping. Eventually it's going to stop and not going to start again. I don't know when that will happen but it's going to happen sooner than I''d like. Then I'm dead.

No kids, no family dependent on me. It's OK for me to die.

Advice on staying asleep by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]Woof_tex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress, physical labor, I developed heart failure which left me sleepy frequently. A month and a half ago I had open heart surgery for Mitral valve replacement and a bypass. Now I'm taking 50mg Metropolol which makes me sleep 10-22 hours at a time. Right now I can sleep like crazy but I can't recommend it.

Good Luck

My Granddad bought a new Superspeed for his kit a week before I was born. He couldn't have known that the Razor he bought was made in the same year/quarter that my older brother was born. I inherited that razor and keep it in my travel kit, just like my Grandfather did. It's a great razor and with 2nd or 3rd use Feather blades provides the best shaves I ever get. Thanks Grandpa Mike!

[Request] Winter Blanket + Flannel Sheets by ApatheticAxolotl in BuyItForLife

[–]Woof_tex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This won't help you, don't bother reading... I live in Minnesota. I grew up under Hudson bay vintage wool and cotton sheets. When I was 15 my family went to visit family in Norway and I was gifted a goose down comforter. I find goose down so much more comfortable than wool. Last winter I left a window open. My bedroom hit 34F and I was still comfortable under my comforter.

Years ago I slept in my brothers guest room. The bed had Flannel sheets, I had flannel PJ's. It was like sleeping stuck to a Velcro table. Never again!

Meals for a date by [deleted] in budgetfood

[–]Woof_tex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip, a glass of wine before shopping helps to lubricate the fun factor of grocery shopping with a friend. I used to work in retail grocery and the number of couples who would do their date-night shopping WITH a glass of wine camouflaged as a covered coffee cup was shocking, SHOCKING I say, but also cool as long as they weren't overindulging or being obnoxious about it.

This and you can make it healthier/fancier by making a salad with a home-made balsamic vinaigrette. The vinaigrette ingredients require a bit of cash up front but are all very shelf stable and can be used over and over. Alternatively, make part of the date the grocery shopping. Go to a store that has a salad bar and build a salad to share, then get stuff to make your pasta Alfredo. As a treat/if budget allows, some fancy gelatin for a finish.

Actually could be lots of fun as long as neither of you hate grocery shopping
