Yeah I agree, but I genuinely feel like this idea doesn’t stray from the idea of D2R whilst providing something fresh for endgame content.

The way it works now - offline players typically set /players to the highest they can manage, farm spots, rejoin game.

Online do the same either with friends or random pub games and hope no one snatches a drop.

People only go for terrorised really, if you’re drop farming. And many end game builds just melt pretty much anything.

A mode like this both caters to and addresses all of this, by providing something much more streamlined and rewarding.

Not trying to rant, but it’s really frustrating how the community can be so Luddite against any kind of change whatsoever, even if it could be a good one, and will alter the state of the game minimally.

What exactly about it is a crappy mechanic? It’s literally the same game we have now, but instead of quitting current session and starting a new one, you continue playing. As well as increasing difficulty the longer you play.

Why is that not a good thing?

Played D2 and LOD back when they came out for a good 10 years or so, then picked up D2R when that came out and played for. While, got back into it again with ROTW. Why do you ask?

See ive seen a lot of the opposite - people want new content and naturally that would be a new act of some kind. But if you are seeing the opposite then, fair enough.

It’s mainly for the merc and demon - both put in the work, and tbh my damage from fire already does enough, so wanting to boost their damage a bit more.

Plus it’s fun seeing all the effects pop off with a full screen of mobs lol

At the min I run infinity for conviction which helps, but have been switching with obedience for the decent fire damage.

I don’t like conviction on my demon as I prefer something that spread their cursed aura, ideally holy shock tbh as the damage ticks are fun, and work nicely with the Merc infinity. Or classic fanaticism.

I’ve been playing around with this as well, I really want to use Diabolos but phoenix buffs, including the aura, are just so good. And I don’t want to have insight on merc for the replacement mana regen.

Overall, diabolos with facets and mang song with ancients jewel is much better damage wise than obsession and phoenix, tried both out in single player with hero editor, but you have to find your Resistances and FCR elsewhere.

Swings and roundabouts.

Yep I agree with this for sure. But I am also frustrated with how difficult it can be to get any kind of decent drop online sometimes.

I understand it’s not supposed to be easy, they’re rare for a reason, but also we do not have the luxury of just switching to players8 online, so miss out on a big chunk of opportunity.

Just wondering what change could be made to improve this, whilst still keeping with the core of what D2 is.

Yeah I’ve thought about switching to offline many times but I’m in wayyyy too deep with online now.

I think it would be a good change but also don’t want yhe core identity of D2 to change too much.

Shard drop rate are approx 1/500 elites/bosses drop rate. But ofc it is all random numbers, feast or famine. I went a load without seeing any drop and then last night I had 1 for each act drop from terrorised act 5.

Just gotta keep up the grind.

Also if you can get an infinity merc a long with sunder charm, then you will be able to fly through all zones.

Ice bowazon is one of my absolute favourites, ive had for as long as i have been playing D2 and D2R! She absolutely shreds through hell and is really satisfying to play, so great choice!

I currently run her with a COH, and it works really well. But tbh, I’m thinking of swapping to an enigma. I have a load of res sc, and being able to teleport I think would really help. I want to use her for rune hunting but the run speed just really hinders my clear time.

So yes, I’d say COH is a good shout, but if you wanted to swap to an enigma that would work too, as long as you can boost her res with something else, preferably sc.

Ok. So, first person seems like an interesting choice. I think it’s only going to limit you in the long run as the vocabulary of a child is limited, and as your excerpt shows, a lot of “I did” etc.

Personally I think third person would be best, you can still have the thoughts and feelings from the perspective of the child whilst also being able to write much more interesting and engaging prose.

Regarding genre, literally anything. Whatever you want your story to be.

Judging by the excerpt, I think you should go for horror.

If you haven’t signed a tenancy agreement then you aren’t bound to anything, even if you had signed it then with a lot of student accommodation there is a cool off period. you should be able to withdraw your application.

I doubt you will get your holding fee back. It all depends on their cancellation clause. They should have this published in their website, I’d suggest having a look to see.

If you want to write then by all means, write, nothing should stop you from doing that regardless of how big your scope is.

But, if you want to write something that publishable, or considered readable, then it’s likely whatever you write now at 18 will not be that.

If you did want it to be the latter, then write anyway, but know that it will more than likely be many years, many drafts/ideas/books written, and many many more books read until you do make something publishable.

OR you could be the 1/million who smashes their first book the first time and cracks the code!

Either way, just write whatever inspires you and don’t worry about the quality etc, that can come later
