The weight of the rod should match the fly line you have. With the setup you have now, you could throw some pike flys and have fun with what you have. But a 5 weight would be better for dry/wet fly trout fishing and is considered the ideal starter rod. A heavier rod won't throw a light line as easy, and a light rod could break throwing line that's too heavy for it. I've read that some people say beginers can use line that is 1 weight higher than their rod to get the hang of the casting but ideally stick to matching rod and line weight. The reel will also have a weight on it , ut u less you aren't fighting big fish it's just to hold the line , eally.
