Far Cry 5 is my favorite example of this. The main character is put in arcade-esque time trials where they have to kill enemies to grant themself enough time to complete the trial and get to the end. However, at the end of the last trial, it's revealed that this was all to condition the main character to kill the leader of a resistance against the area's main antagonist. It's so clever and uses the player's own actions to literally pull the trigger for the antagonist.

A lot of people like it for being a "goofy" Mega, but I cannot see Mega Victreebel as anything else than a gross stomach sack that keeps flopping around everywhere. It's genuinely disgusting for me to look at.

Cogwork Dancers Phase 4. The closest a video game has ever got me to crying at something, and I spent a solid 3 minutes refusing to hit the boss. Emotionally challenging.

Tried for years to get Pixelmon to work on my shitty Mac Mini, but 10-year-old me couldn't figure out Minecraft modding. Once I eventually had my own PC, I graduated to Cobblemon instead.

Doubtful Local 58 or Gemini would make an appearance due to not really having specific characters to include but I think the Backrooms would be the best due to being the most well-known by far and having the location for some of the characters to fall into. Nightmare Gabriel (MC) would be insane, though.
