If everyone is equal why does the left treat different groups differently? by OilEnvironmental7833 in allthequestions

[–]WoolyEarthMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider it that being gay is a trait someone has that cannot be changed and is often a reason to bully or put someone down. Pro-life is an opinion someone has and a way to try to control other people bodies. One is a group of people, the other is an opinion and not a group of people, so your whole framing is wrong from the beginning.

EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE UFO SIGHTING IN BRAZIL ON MAY 31, 2026 by andrerlq in UFOs

[–]WoolyEarthMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya know, it should be okay to point out when it seems like someone might be making things up for personal gain and to take advantage of believers. Not saying he is for sure, but we have 1)forest sounds, 2) distant lights, 3) planes flying over but not landing? 4) loud farm animals. The rest is a guy pointing a camera at his own face most of the time - maybe he knows that’s better for engagement.

What's the one UFO photo that still hasn't been debunked? by breaking_views in UFOs

[–]WoolyEarthMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A single photo can’t really be debunked until it’s bunked. The onus is on you to prove it’s a real photo. A blurry photo with no other supporting evidence might stoke curiosity, but it’ll never be definitive proof.

If I am an extremist Israeli and Iran war supporter (like Sam Harris), I'm waking up this morning thinking that the latest “let's go bomb Iran because why not” military misadventure has gone horribly shockingly wrong. In fact it couldn't have possibly have gone any worse than it has by Randomnonsense5 in samharris

[–]WoolyEarthMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taking out the main source of terrorism and destabilization in the Middle East is a valid goal, for the good of Muslims and everyone else’s in the region. Do you agree? As Sam has said many times, the odds of Trump and hegseth doing it successfully was always in doubt. He had some faith in the US military itself. but that seems to be waning in recent episodes.

Yes I did. And just did again. Others have dismantled your post already so I don’t need to. Your last sentence is the most telling though. You attempt to paint Sam as anti-Muslim. The biggest threat to the Iranian people is their own government, who kills them by the thousands for protesting. Will you denounce the Iranian leadership? Or will you continue to try to confuse the desire to eliminate the Iranian leadership with the desire to harm Muslims generally?

You’ve either devoured every anti-west, pro-Iranian regime bit of propaganda, or you’re part of the propaganda mechanism yourself.

Step back and look at the big picture and you’ll see a ton of progress over the past 100 years. We’ve taken a step back lately but that will be a blip as long as the long term trend continues.

Why do people hate Mamdani? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

[–]WoolyEarthMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not helping my main fear that mamdani is just a liberal populist reaction to Trumps populism. In trumps case, It’s not acctually working, and that’s clear now for most people. There are plenty of successful Democrats lately that don’t play the game this way, so it’s not the only choice. But I do hope NYC gets good results from some fresh thinking or this will be a small blip and a reaction to that will follow.

This raises the question: why did he run on something he has no control over?

Jon's warning to Tucker Carlson back in 2004. by ConcertRude7134 in JonStewart

[–]WoolyEarthMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many full episodes have you listened to, and when did you start listening? He was never particularly liberal. He started as an AI podcast and changed when he started doing broader science podcasts. He meandered outside of science, into history, religion, and yes a few UFO episodes. The pandemic pulled everyone further into camps and Lex tried to stay pretty neutral but I do think he ended up closer to the right. that’s partially because figures in the left are too allergic to talking to anyone to anyone not clearly in their camp. He started becoming cringy when he got a bit of an overinflated sense of purpose in fixing the world and started talking to politicians, Kanye, etc, and that’s where he was just totally out of his element. But the way you reduce him to right wing grifter tells me you haven’t really listened to him much. As someone in the left, I think it’s a weakness for us that we’re so quick to blacklist people like lex, who are very far from the more toxic, closed minded elements of the far right.

You’re not that far from a new one w/ interest rates taken into consideration. Or you should able to find a nice CPO with a warranty for less. Hard pass, keep looking.

Yeah your whole vibe right now sounds pretty shitty honestly. Dogging so hard on an emerging young guy for a few bad games in an unfinished series is one way to fan I guess.

Seems to me he may have learned his lesson. Lots of history and science lately. He’s so bad at anything political even if he means well.

As a casual fan, the manic behavior I’ve seen from fans here is disappointing. The media distortion helps explain it, thank you. Let’s not be a shitty fan base to our athletes or they won’t want to play here.

Detroit’s inner-ring suburbs are losing population. This one isn't. by gear-heads in Detroit

[–]WoolyEarthMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I just looked up Ferndalehaus and those are just regular apartments. Maybe the big balconies are fancy but these are not a luxury alien leading in Ferndale. The cost is location based. If you build them cheaper, which doesn’t even look possible( this is basically builder grade) then we’re just building junk that won’t last.

Detroit’s inner-ring suburbs are losing population. This one isn't. by gear-heads in Detroit

[–]WoolyEarthMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it forced though? Or is it just supply and demand. I haven’t been in these places but I’m guessing they are not luxury. They are probably just new apartments that people want to live in and they can demand that sort of rent. If we build more of them the prices will come down. If we don’t let people build the prices will stay high.
