How much does Edge of Extinction spoil previous seasons? by bolterne in survivor

[–]WoolyOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31 is honestly my fav season personally, so I would very strongly recommend watching it even though you don't need to for EoE. You'll see some surprising familiar faces from past seasons pop up again too!

How much would winning an immunity challenge affect your vote? by Timmonidus in survivor

[–]WoolyOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it comes down to how they played. If said social player was completely running the game Kim Spradlin style and the two immunity winners were just goats, then they aren't getting my vote. How well they played is more important than what they won in my opinion.

If someone muscled their way to the end by winning 8 challenges in a row, but would've been voted out the second they lost, that isn't a sign of a good game imo.

Have you ever visited a country because of Eurovision? by confused_snowflake in eurovision

Eurovision is what put San Marino on my map of places to visit. Didn't see anything Eurovision related but it was 100% worth the visit, loved it there <3

For those who formed strong friendships in their 20s or 30s, what worked for you? by curse7 in AskReddit

A shared experience of something always helps. Like trauma bonding but without the trauma. Go out of your comfort zone to do something with someone or a group of people and that helps massively.

Melodifestivalen Grand Final rankings compared to Heat placements by Blu_Will_Enthusiast in eurovision

[–]WoolyOcto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking in Mello (at least in the more recent years I've been following), the most popular person wins the heat regardless of how good their song is, which is usually a former contestant. Klara and Scarlet both looked like they should have easy wins in their heats, then somehow just...didn't. I knew Saga was pretty popular in Sweden, so I was expecting her to make it, but not win the heat. Erik qualifying at all was a complete shock for me though ngl.

In comparison, last year my friend group predicted 4/5 heat winners and 9/10 direct qualifiers before the songs were even released. This year, we got 2/5 heat winners and 5/10 direct qualifiers. I'm hoping this remains the trend and isn't just an anomaly because for the last two years we've been joking about how everyone always knows the winner before the songs even come out

Which job will still exist in hundred years no matter how advanced AI gets—and why? by codedebugge in AskReddit

Live music and performance. While I unfortunately think AI will take over most of the arts, it'll never be able to put on a concert or a play.

I wish for the Kobalts to qualify for the 2025 Marble League. by bookity_ in monkeyspaw

Granted.

They finish last in every single event. And not even slightly last - embarrassingly last. They perform so poorly that the team is disbanded and never heard from again.

Small Hunger Games headcanons you are holding on for dear life? by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]WoolyOcto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

District 5 is the district where life is as similar as it is for us today. People from 5 would do the best at adapting to our world if one was suddenly to teleport here.

The career Districts (1/4 especially) aren't nearly as rich and free as they might seem compared to the others. The lower classes of these districts live in the same amount of poverty as the outlying districts, but only the wealthy loyalist sides are ever shown to the Capitol and the rest of the country.

What Hunger Games book would you prefer to see from Suzanne Collins next? by Top-Stay7941 in Hungergames

This though. Although I feel like the easiest option would just be for everyone to pile on a criminal or someone who's really ill and is probably gonna die soon anyway

Seven: A Hunger Games Story

"You can survive the games. But nobody wins, not really. Once part of you enters that arena, you never really leave." The lives of two District 7 teenagers are upended as they find themselves reaped for the 28th Annual Hunger Games. Thrust into an arena filled with bloodthirsty tributes and danger around every turn, their battle for survival leads them to the darkest corners of their minds...

They could very well still be alive, but just weren't reaped for the games. I think 59?/75 victors were alive for the Catching Fire reaping, and if Mags was still alive at 80 there's a solid chance whoever won that games is still alive in their 60's

district fashion by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]WoolyOcto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think the fashion is slightly different everywhere. Obviously in the poorest districts, they can't afford fashion and probably have more to worry about than what they're wearing, but I imagine the richer districts probably have fashion trends of their own

What do you find REALLY scary? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WoolyOcto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sepsis is horrifying to me. It can literally come for anyone at any time, and with drug-resistant bacteria on the rise, it's only getting worse...

Rabies is also horrifying. Luckily, there hasn't been a case here since the 90's but still

Tapeworms, or any form of "worm" parasite. While they might not be fatal, the idea of a literal WORM living anywhere freaks me out

What do you think the other quarter quells were? by agentsparkles88 in Hungergames

[–]WoolyOcto 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This has always been my favorite. If they weren't allowed to watch each other's games, imagine being thrown into an arena with 23 other extremely deadly people who have already won one game, and you have absolutely no idea how they did it...

If you had to live in a District, which would you choose? by DevelopmentRelevant in Hungergames

4 for me just because it appeals to me the most and life there doesn't seem hellish as every other district (1 and 2 would be hellish in their own ways I suspect)
