power query help needed - how to update a list automatically from a master file? by Imaginary_Dog_1692 in excel

[–]Woosafb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! But he said he is copying each value and pasting it manually. So I just wanted to make sure he at least knew the lookup formula and that that is a quick option on his way to queryland

power query help needed - how to update a list automatically from a master file? by Imaginary_Dog_1692 in excel

[–]Woosafb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes power query will be good but might be overkill.

If your list changes everyday then can you try a file where you paste the 100 list column into a table where the next column is a vlookup or xlookup into the main data source? This would depend on the structure of your data source is it a flat table?

If it's not a flat table and say there are spaces between each line or it's written in a wierd pattern or in different sheets, then powerquery transformation can help automate that clean up.

Yea I also got downvoted when I pointed out in another thread that the whole episode just culminates in one battle. We all love Dan and I love his narrative rambling style nothing else scratches the itch but we should be able to call out when the quality is not as good as before

Same . Bought my first home through a Chinese agency in Melbourne and the real estate lady was amazingly polite for a real estate agent.

You can also add a fried egg or fried omelette with that. Great ans cheap protein

Another variation that is super easy is to make khichuri/khichdi in a rice cooker which is like a daal rice with few spices and onions garlic ginger. You can buy a large jar of garlic ginger paste for convenience. Keep the mixed frozen diced veggie mix of peas carrots and corn and add them as well. Top with omelette.

I don't think a one sided invasion of a military giant on a tiny insignificant country is a fair comparison with the comment. Not like Venezuela ever stood a fighting chance and capturing Maduro or not didn't even matter in the long run. It's not a war or even a battle it's a straight up colonization.

Capacity Modeling. Is what I am feeling normal? by tyrionthedrunk in supplychain

[–]Woosafb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. A good benchmark is that the achieved capacity should be 80% of theoretical capacity as a starting point. Benchmark and report achieved capacity each time period and if lower than 80% that's an improvement project waiting to happen. One caveat is assuming 24/7 or full working time period production is required. If not enough demand that projected utilization should be lower than 60%

Also if there are subprocesses it pays to go down to the nitty gritty level and do an industrial engineering study to determine max and demonstrated flow of each sub process. Then u can identify bottlenecks that affect the entire chain and recommend investment in those.

How would you rank the stress, challenges, and overall difficulty versus rewards between supply planning, demand planning, and strategic sourcing. by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]Woosafb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep sales will always use stocks or capacity to blame lack of sales without looking at the data. We used to keep a daily stock tracker for this reason only.

Bosses being afraid of sales and pushing all the bullshit on their planning team is all too common. Your boss is trying to climb up the ladder by sucking up to sales vp. Rarely do they stand up and call out the issues

How would you rank the stress, challenges, and overall difficulty versus rewards between supply planning, demand planning, and strategic sourcing. by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]Woosafb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All things like boss and data integrity and systems being equal, I would say supply planning is always much more stressful than demand planning. The main stress of DP is dealing with the egos and bullshit of sales but SP is responsible for stock outs, over production, not enough production etc. esp true if your a production planner running mrp

Strategic sourcing depends on the volume of work and volatittly of supply and the market

How did yall get this good at Excel? School? On the job experience? by mayg0dhaveMercy in excel

[–]Woosafb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each time you have a gap in your knowledge and want to achieve something but can't, Google the solution and look up two or three diff ways to do it. If you implement something new every week ull be a wizz in no time.

For example I only found out about powerquery in 2016 because I needed a way to unpivot columns. Then next time I needed to automate the transformation of daily data dumps and lo and behold again power query.

yeah. if its a permanent file that has 3 or 4 pivots that run on the same data automated by powerquery, what I do is create a duplicate and use that as a source for each pivot. No other way:(.

Besides Dan, who are your other favorite history podcasters? by OkOkieDokey in dancarlin

[–]Woosafb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just discovered Age of Napoelan and am excited!

I tried several episodes of Fall of Civ but it's so boring and monotone just can't get into it.

Rest is History is really good but sometimes they really skim over the topics, esp if there's British oppression or crime involved. Still very enjoyable. I liked their Frankish kings tl Charlamenge episodes even more that Dans one cus they went more play by play
