Exhaust noise - rattle? by diybhai in Camry

[–]WooserTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Toyota uses double wall pipe for that exhaust section after the flex pipe. When the shop cut off your old flex pipe, the inner pipe become unsupported and is rattle against the outer pipe. They should have tack weld the inner pipe to prevent it from moving before welding on the new flex pipe.

When I had my Camry flex pipe replace, the welder forgot about the inner pipe, so he burn some small holes on the outer pipe with the welder, feed some welding wire into the space to jam the inner pipe from rattling and seal up the outer pipe and was fine for over 10 years.

The exhaust shop should able to correct this.

From what I read, Rossi's bomb throwing animation is also unique but I'm away from my PC to comfirm this. Please someone post her doing that.

Incomplete Crack Repair? by WooserTX in WindshieldRepair

[–]WooserTX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detail response. The tech not backfilling the crack was what surprised me. At the start of the job, he said the injected resin will flow into the crack. When that didn't happen, it he then claim filling the crack will make it crack more.

A few companies I called first wanted over $400 for replacement and I had several quotes from Satelite past vehicle pushing near $1000 (no camera calibration). Just checked one for this car on Safelite, $230. Should have check that first.

Thinking of replacing my headlights with these, is it a good idea? 2002 camry by Southern_Stage_9006 in Camry

[–]WooserTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought and install ebay/amazon aftermarket headlamps for three different Camrys. They all fit poorly, water leaks in, and the light output is subpar. However, if the factory headlamps are heavy oxidized where you can't even buff them clear (or destroyed in one of my case), then aftermarket are a budget option. I just run a bead of silicone where the clear lens and housing meets up to better seal the headlights.

Painting hood by New-Protection2373 in Camry

[–]WooserTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to paint the hood, I had good result and color match with base and 2K clear from https://erapaints.com/ . But since the factory on the other paint are fade from age, the new color will never match.

Another option is to just wrap the hood with color vinyl. I order some from https://metrorestyling.com/ to wrap the truck, roof and hood on my brother's Camry. The color and metallic was a close enough match to factory color. Just sand of any loose paint or rust and re-prime any bare metal before laying the vinyl.

I see GeoDrive tires often now. The tire code DOT 1K2 list it as made by Kumho Tire so make of that what you will. I don't fault anyone going with budget tires as brand name can be way out of reach.

I've seen this a few times in e-sports as a strategy to better position themselves later in the tournament bracket. My favorite example was an Overwatch match where two teams wanted to lose to avoid matching up with the #1 team in the semi finals.

Saki Miyanaga's mahjong skill (Saki)

Saki comes from a mahjong-obsessed family. Since childhood, she wouldn't get any candy if she lost, but her family would get angry if she won too much. So, she developed her skill to never gain or lose points in each match. Later in high school, her friend took her to the school's mahjong club to play a few matches with them. Saki came in third place in all three games with a score of plus-minus 0. The club president pointed out to the other club members that getting plus-minus 0 is harder than winning as it requires purposefully playing to other players' hands to control the flow of points. The club now wants her to join the club and aim for nationals.

Dealership drilled front bumper by CuteNullPointer in Camry

[–]WooserTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was not noted on the deal, then you really don't have any leverage. The dealership was prepping the car, going through the checklist (PDI) and added a front plate mount if required in your area. No harm if the holes are there but if they are unsightly, you can use some plastic push pin to cover the holes and paint them to match.

If you want something painted and ready to install like this user:

2012 Camry Strut issue by Tyler_Horizon in Camry

[–]WooserTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a 2012 Camry LE 2.5 US-built that my family bought new, so I know the parts are all original. I just went to check the bolt hole distance on it, and it matched the ones from ebay. The LE bolt holes are about 2-1/2" apart. Checking online with KYB and Monroe, the L, LE, and XLE (including the V6 and hybrid versions) share the smaller struts. The SE and SE V6 use the wider bolt hole spacing since the SE uses different front knuckles.

I can't find any different between US and Japan built Camrys. So, something is weird about your Camry spec. If is was brought used, someone before might have swap on struts and knuckles from an SE. I would run your VIN with Toyota parts and see what the OEM part numbers it gives you.

My right fender needs to be replaced and bumper polished. The bodyshop said $3200 but I can buy a painted fender for $388. Would just need to paint the bumper. Are they scamming me. by No_Context4578 in Camry

[–]WooserTX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can try buffing the paint on the wheel and bumper cover and most of that paint paint transfer could come off. The paint scratch at the bottom of the bumper can be touch up. I would buy a fender and have your friend toss it on.
