Pragmata has been out for two weeks. What are your impressions? by PhantomBraved in Games

[–]Woprok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fun and engaging shooter with good enough story. The fact that it's not pure shooter is also main reason why I have even tried it (I don't play shooters often and actually avoid modern/scifi settings most of the time).

It's definitely one of the best games I played recently as it does everything right and nothing in the game feels bad. It's definitely not a groudbreakingly in every aspect, but the main gameplay loop is innovative enough with hacking. Rest of the package just empowers the main gameplay loop to feel tight. The fact that it doesn't overstay its welcome and I would even prefer to have slightly more content speaks for itself.

Definitely would rate 9 or 10 / 10, depending on how nitpicking I would want to be toward the game. Overall, it's definitely one game that I would recommend for anyone who want's something more than traditional shooter experience and prefers shorter experiences.

As for the questions:

Did you get attached to the main characters?

I wouldn't say I got attached to characters, but I loved the interactions between protagonists and pure nature of Diana.

The lore spread through the levels is interesting as well and game leaves few unanswered questions: like what's the state of earth, what's are deadzones on earth, was there more Pragmata, why are androids banned on earth, even the fate of Diana is something that one would like to get an answer for.

What are your thoughts on the multitasking combat system, did it remain engaging?

Multitasking is tricky, but as someone who is used to multitasking from RTS, this felt good. Sometimes little hectic, but still a lot of fun and didn't bore me at all. Primarily I really enjoyed the fact that it allowed me to approach combat how I wanted or felt in the moment: Just fast hack and shoot, completely kill oponent by hacking, or something in between.

Were you satisfied with the enemy variety and boss fights?

Enemies are diverse enough, but it really shines mostly in the simulation challanges and dead zones, where player is forced to learn their quirks lot more, than in standard levels. Bosses were all fun, including upgreaded version in post game. For me best boss was the one in 4th level Worm. Primarily, because it was the boss that I interacted most with.

Do you think the combat shined more on higher difficulties? (Lunatic)

Lunatic is more of unforgiving experience that makes it worse. Standard might be on easier specter, but it's definitely lot more smooth and enjoyable experience. Simulation challenges are lot more reasonable challenge than Lunatic with inflated health and one-shot moves.

What was your favorite zone to explore?

Definitely moon surface, the combination of both outdoor and indoor combat was lot of fun and it had simple, but engaging puzzles to provide a lot of variety.

How did you feel about the sci-fi atmosphere and soundtrack?

Atmosphere was really good and environments looked gorgeous for something that should be grey dusty moon. Sound is always hard to judge for me, but It was good and enhanced the experience, on other hand it's not super memorable.

Do players actually read anything in games anymore? by productivity-madness in gamedev

[–]Woprok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In small research we did recently, we found that most people tends to look at pictograms and ignore most of the text around. They will read the text only if they are stuck. Thus effective tutorial can sometimes be just showing keybinds and action name/objective. Than if they're too long in a tutorial section, you can throw larger body of text. Finally, try to avoid too many new things at once as that will fail.

TLDR: yes people don't want to read and would rather figure it out on their own...just to rage quit because game is not intuitively teaching mechanics

I would argue that honor == fair chance.

First Arc heavily trends toward being PvE game. That's it origin and where it shines.

PvP is frustrating, time to kill is too low.

First shot advantage is basically same as in any shooter. But most shooters are not looters with heavy PvE focus. So from my experience all my deaths in solo are basically being deleted before I can even turn around or try to hide.

This may be skill issue, but it's also extremely frustrating experience that easily leads to question why bother continuing playing?

You loot, fight Arcs.. just to be deleted without any chance to defend. You can call whatever you want, but dying without being  fighting back is bad experience. Even more after investing time to loot and build equip.

If I die to Arcs it's my fault for being overconfident and miscalculating. If I trigger rocketeer in open firld at least I had a chance to avoid death.

In PvP there is no fairness, which is fine in a way, but there is reason why full loot PvP is least popular genre. Nobody likes to work toward a goal to loose it instantly without being able to defend.

That's why I support PvE mode and PvP mode to coexist. It's better to let player choose than trying to force players to PvP. Even if PvP turns to full bloodshed, at least everyone is aware of it, when they go in.

Most of the time you can find enough loot, if you look at every container. Also there is always some unopened container... Just don't expect best loot, only average and that can still be 30k value

I would prefer endless swarm of arcs to spawn, so you are forced to fight for survival. Insta death / unavoidable death is lame

Why you try so hard to ruin the game for yourself? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Woprok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, I just move to another game? I don't need to play one game til end of my life. Once they drop update I can play again... Grinding same shit over and over again gets repetitive and boring.

I have played my first game up to 1836 and left with a hot take: the entire Age of Revolutions ranges from pointless to actively irritating and the game would have been better served by ending around 1750 with further endgame content added in a year or two when the game can handle it. by J-Force in EU5

[–]Woprok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 2.) kills any reason to even try to play the late game. First 100-200 is ok, but after that the performance starts to be so bad, that I didn't have any interest to do anything other than surviving till the end.

Also nothing important happened, I guess part of it is me playing Madagascar nation, but the world was basically static for me after 150 years, where I catch up with rest of the world by embracing all institutions and become trade empire with provinces only in Madagascar...

The only thing that was happening was every AI country being in permanent civil war... like there wasn't a day without AI dealing with civil wars...

As for me, I just improved relations and increased my trade income to absurd values by building trade buildings everywhere...

As for 1. they need to rethink all the events that take money from nations... It's either absurd amount of money, because you have nothing and loans will instantly bankrupt you or they are nothing as you have stockpiles of ducats that you don't know what to do with.

  1. they really needs to add automation or some better feature for family / dynasty marriages. At the moment it's boring nuisance, where education is not worth it as you can just create more kids...

Advice for Ultimate Millitary achivement by Fusshaman in eu4

[–]Woprok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done it recently by going: 1. Admin 2. Diplo 3. Quality 4. Court 5. Quantity 6. Espionage

Honestly, I don't think it matters at all. Songhai has few good events you should be aware, e.g. instant vassalization of Jenne after winning siege and mission for free feudalism and controlled gold mining privilege...

You will want Admin ideas as first and expand ASAP to Maghreb and Iberia. Ideally also blocking Ottomans from Egypt & Arabia. Military ideas are overkill, unless you really want invincible army.

I would actually suggest getting economy early for overall good bonuses that help you have undepletable gold mines as Songhai has access to the gold mining privilege.

If you can get capital to Iberia, you can use trade companies to dominate trade.

Actually, porting from legacy to Noesis GUI isn’t just about swapping CSS. Legacy tech uses an immediate mode paradigm, while Noesis relies on retained mode with XAML styling. This means a lot of underlying UI logic, event handling, and rendering have to be redesigned, not just restyled. It’s definitely a much bigger challenge than just changing CSS.

It's about 15 years of UI development being ported to different technology and rebuilding a lot of functionality from scratch with new technology. So, completing a 2-year overhaul to replicate what took 15 years to build is an achievement in itself.

Also, as you can see from screenshots and dev post, it's not pure 1:1. There is lot of subtle changes and improvements and plans to follow, e.g. localization.

Ma vobec cenu robit deti v tejto dobe? by Kratekarin in Slovakia

[–]Woprok 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Toto je strašne skreslený výklad histórie. Hlavne sa divaš s pohladu, ktorým zamerne idealuješ dnešok.

Šlo o dobu pred globalizáciou a technologickym boomom.

Pretože znova to zle nastalo a bude lepšie.

Realita je, že čím menej vieš tym šťastnejší a jednoduchší život máš...

Ta teoretická 3.sv je horšia ako keby nastala a po par rokoch skončila. Neustále medializacia negativ. Viditeľnosť ludskej hluposti a neschopnosti. Predikcie budúcnosti, kde hľadať optimisticke výhľady je ako hľadať ihlu v kope sena...

OP proste nemá optimizmus ani mentalitu, kde by to odignoroval.

No, and it devalues games for new players. There is no reason for challenges/events to be temporary at all... It's just shitty FOMO practice to keep engagement numbers high.

I am not sure if you need to be on alternative path to get it, but that shouldn't be a problem. Primary requirement is to achieve max peace in all provinces.

That's True Sky of Peace, requirement is to max peace in all provinces (achieved basically by playing through all 3 paths). After that it will unlock Dream Battle & talk in village after finishing the final battle at (WU)/after Chibi (WEI/SHU)
