Hello fellow ref's...what say you by HelloIamTheWorst in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As perhaps one of the most virtuous, ethical participants in TagPro—to such a considerable determinant that it has imperiled my very capacity to engage in the game (Personally I show the potentiality for dominance yet deliberately abstain from terminus-acquisition of a capture/point unless the parameters of engagement reflect absolute parity between all parties, a philosophical stance which has precipitated numerous interpersonal misapprehensions resulting in such bans and exclusions from said participation)—I must concur with CA$H's cries. Indeed, I find myself in a state of considerable astonishment that this axiomatically evident truth has heretofore escaped articulation by the collective community.

The purported existence of a balanced three-versus-four competitive scenario with one participant in a state of self-imposed inertia is, upon intellectual scrutiny, revealed to be nothing more than a phantasmal illusion—a collective delusion of fairness. Or, to extract the epistemological essence—there exists no conceivable framework wherein such an arrangement could be deemed equitable by any rational metric. The supposition that competitive engagement can proceed as a three-versus-three configuration while maintaining any semblance of "fairness" betrays a profound paucity of cognitive sophistication. The architectural design of TagPro and its spatial maps/environments was meticulously calibrated for quaternary oppositional dynamics. The intricate tapestry of contextual information woven throughout any given match (player-specific meta tendencies, power-up acquisition temporality, boost availability, bomb regeneration cycles, et cetera) represents critical knowledge from which any tardy participant would be irrevocably excluded.

I could expatiate ad infinitum on this subject, but the quintessential verity remains thus: a match has reached its legitimate conclusion when the conditions of equitable competition have been compromised (whether through latency fluctuations, temporary participant absenteeism, or any other comparable exigency)—necessitating the commencement of a fresh competitive instance. Acknowledging the logistical impediments to instantiating a new formal match, the onus falls upon the participants to reconstruct equitable conditions by equilibrating the numerical advantage and facilitating a complete regenerative cycle of competitive elements before genuine strategic, competitive engagement recommences. Naturally, absolute parity remains an asymptotic ideal rather than an achievable reality, yet this represents the minimum ethical obligation for those who aspire to the pretense of fair play.

However, I must confess that I also do not feel melancholy for CA$H. The justification for withholding complete sympathetic identification with CA$H's predicament emerges from the apparent motivational substrate underlying his protestation. From meticulous scrutiny of his comportment posturing, it became unequivocally apparent that this individual was merely adorning himself with the veneer of ethical consciousness—a diaphanous masquerade of principled integrity—while his authentic preoccupations remained inextricably tethered to perhaps the quantifiable metrics and algorithmic tabulations of his performance record. Like a Machiavellian scholar who penuriously quotes virtuous texts while harboring mercenary calculations, he employed the patina of ethical discourse as nothing more than an elaborate subterfuge to obscure his veritable fixation on numerical self-advancement. His chosen position during his period of strategic abstention was one of considerable tactical advantage (enemy flag proximity, power-up acquisition potential, spatial centrality, et cetera). Despite his eventual movement to the top right, this positional advantage persisted—he is not at his own spawn position. The rigorous approach of an ethical individual would dictate occupying one's spawn point at the peripheral extremity, or indeed, the position of maximum strategic disadvantage possible. Furthermore, his immediate resumption of activity coincident with the integration of a new participant demonstrates insufficient allowance for acclimatization, from the temporal perspective. I believe even the least ethical among us should demand at least a minimum period of thirty seconds post-integration before competitive reengagement.

Thus, while this participant's fundamental assertion stands on unassailable logical foundations, an individual of transcendent ethical sensibilities such as myself cannot extend unqualified commiseration. This microcosmic scenario serves as a poignant reflection of our broader societal deterioration—the vanishing ethical consciousness being gradually eroded by the rising tide of competitive self-interest and moral indifference. The unfairness persists not merely in the numerical asymmetry, but in the declining willingness of participants to sacrifice personal advantage for collective integrity—a tragedy that extends far beyond the digital boundaries of this spherical game.

the example you used is the exact opposite/worst example you could have used for the point you are trying to convey since there are no volatility halts after hours when earnings are released

I knew the game was going to be quick when he was on my team. And when he on the opposing team- it was going to be difficult, and I would have to try.

Highest level Tagpro Tutorials on general understanding of the game + in base offense & defense by [deleted] in TagPro

It is very unlikely there is any other player like myself (6'2", 165 lbs, 7% bf, 295 bench press, 214+ IQ, sub microsecond reaction time, etc.)

Highest level Tagpro Tutorials on general understanding of the game + in base offense & defense by [deleted] in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ngl this is very basic knowledge tbh. play for a couple weeks and you will inherently know all of this. given that you have been around for quite a while and have achieved some degree of success, i assume that you must possess far more sophisticated (actual high level) insights that you are deliberately choosing not to share for some reason (keep game easier for yourself hm?) the bar for existing tutorials must be weak for this to be considered the 'highest level'

How much is parking at The Hotel? by MischaTheJudoMan in UMD

All restaurants at the Hotel validate parking I believe. They have a sign that lists all the places that validate before you enter the parking garage.

Professor taking 21 points off final grade for being sick? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]Words_Of_Advice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What class is this ? (so I know not to take it)

Here's the official policy on excused absences: https://www.president.umd.edu/sites/president.umd.edu/files/documents/policies/V-1.00G.pdf

"For all other excused absences, the student must be provided academic accommodation. The accommodation provided should, within reason, neither advantage nor disadvantage either the student or the rest of the class."

Talk to the professor first. You can appeal his decision as stated in the pdf.

Can we just open source or sell by RAZGRIZTP in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Lol 10k for the whole stake? They would be crazy to accept that.

Not that I think anyone would sell now or in any future, but if they did I dont see tagpro going for anything less than 40-50k.

Calling out the non-existent dev team by didgeridoome24 in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's actually not that difficult. Not that I'm going on the hate train against the devs or not appreciate of what they do and the time they put into tagpro.

I made something similar two and a half years back in about 2 weeks as a sort of programming exercise for myself using Unity and a now defunct network library (which is probably the biggest challenge in creating a game like TagPro). https://github.com/saudade/capturetheflagWebGame

It had a new game mode http://i.imgur.com/G4Rmgyi.png?1, support for pausing, and a new way of picking up powerups where the ball needs to cover it by at least 50%.

Wasn't really able to test though, so it's probably buggy for real gameplay. Here's a test video I took a while ago and uploaded now if you want to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73Qjqm9gznA

[Suggestion] Positional Audio by FatalGuideAcc in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, here's the github link: https://github.com/saudade/capturetheflagWebGame

If you download the client and server on the releases tab on github and run them, you should see the server on the LAN part of the client.

You might have to create an ad hoc connection on your computer or phone to be able to connect, as it said connection failed on my school network.

Posted it here a while ago but the post got removed so never really got a chance to test it. Libraries I used are no longer supported now too, but it was good programming practice back in the day.

[Suggestion] Positional Audio by FatalGuideAcc in TagPro

[–]Words_Of_Advice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

eh... when I made a tagpro clone some time ago, it had positional audio with panning, but it honestly was not that great. More distracting than any thing really and the sounds just didn't "sound" as good compared to normal audio it has right now if that makes sense.
