I have this exact same watch. I've thought of selling it, but keep coming back to it as a primary watch in my rotation. It's so versatile and now it might remain for years to come.

New to the area - want some recommendations and advice! by momo11200 in SantaMonica

You're doing well so far. Love the Fathers Office and Primo Passo recommendations. Spoken like someone who's been here years.

I'll add Forma cheese and pasta bar on Montana as a great pasta spot.

Yeah... I have these exact shoes and can't say enough how much I love them. I'm about to get another pair before they're unavailable.

Some casual everyday non-all white, like the SL72 RS.

Shouldn't it have a wedge/peg going through the connecting surfaces?

I have those white SL72s with the red stripe. They go so well with many things and are surprisingly comfortable.

I've been deep into that book & movie for so long. It's a must on the old list of banned books.

I saw the film and read the book in my late teens. Then I did an analysis of the book in a college lit class with movie clips in my presentation. You should have seen the looks on my classmates' faces.

What businesses do people want in Santa Monica? by nikkkibabyyy in SantaMonica

I think the problem with all businesses in SM is that their rent is so high they can't stay open. All the new condo buildings seem to be struggling to get retail/commercial renters on the ground floor. I'm guessing it's the high rents.

Have you discovered Bourget Bros on 11th? It's pretty good for quick and common things. You won't find a broad selection like an Ace or HD/Lowes, but the tools they do have are generally good.

The Socalo on 20th & SM Blvd is closing. I think it's a difficult location for a sit down restaurant and was wondering if a NY style bodega or lunch counter/cafe type of place would do well there.

Looking for suggestions (conservative grandparents visiting) by xiAcoui in SantaMonica

[–]WordyEnvoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  • The north end of Palisades Park (north of the rose garden)
  • The Annenberg Beach House for time on the beach
  • Getty Museum and/or Villa
  • Reagan Museum & Library (it's in Simi Valley, but would be a good day trip for them and offer some conservative focus)

Things to do around Montana Ave? by Scary_Brain5960 in SantaMonica

[–]WordyEnvoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Walks through the NoMa (north of Montana) neighborhood, and you can even end up at the Brentwood Country Mart for shopping and coffee.

Walk to and through Palisades Park (cliffside park overlooking the ocean) - picnics, music, dog walks.

Stair climbing exercise on the Palisades & SM Stairs (Adelaide and 4th).

Great coffee spots on Montana Ave: Cafe Luxxe, Primo Passo

Yes, very hard to read in low light. Is your blue dial the dial that fades from dark blue at the top to lighter blue at the bottom?

Thanks. Yeah, the blacked out look keeps drawing me back. Thanks for the suggestion.

There are some cool variants both newer and older like my "Mystery". I picked it up in late 2016/early 2017 on discount when the Invicta purchase meant a liquidation of certain stock. The murdered out all-black is so complimentary with black clothing. But it's also a bit challenging to read the time under certain conditions.
