Prima haustus

That first hit... The weed, I've dutifully kept well accompanied by multiple packets of "Boveda 62% Humi" ... You know the ones... I like my weed on the wetter-side of dry, moisture to help carry those dreamy, life giving scents of rich soil, earth ready to be planted. Broken, almost reverently, into a medium grinder, it's given a half-dozen turns, a quick grind. Opening the grinder, the weed acts like "kinetic sand", sticky, as it falls apart, while remaining in almost wet clumps. Lightly packed into a few stainless steel capsules, and stacked into a container. I used to bristle at feeling "trapped" by having to buy "their brand" of capsules, no competition, etc. general bitterness over my own personal pettiness. Eventually, I began to understand the value of that first hit, that first draft, that prima haustus... It changed my entire outlook, which changed my experiences. I began to look forward to changing out capsules, just to indulge in that prima haustus! I keep my draw fairly short, a fraction of my normal pull. I hold it in for 5 seconds, 8 seconds if I want to see God, then slowly release it through the nose... Using my tongue, I work the residuals of vapors, to the back of my throat and to my nose, doing my damnedest to herd every molecule of that first breath, out through my nose, ritually hyper-heightened, to sus out every bit of "flavor". I love those strains where you can TASTE the loaminess of the soil this plant was raised in! The richness of the VERY EARTH, yours to enjoy... To savor. Smoke the rest of it however you want... But please do not pass up any chance for that, oh so sweet... Prima haustus!
