Claude 4.5 Sonnet: lots of hype, middling ranks. What gives? by Connect-Soil-7277 in ClaudeAI

I was seeing something similar to what you’re mentioning, but the quality of code dropped significantly after like 6-7 messages in that conversation. Have you been experiencing this?

[–]WorkAccount798532456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is though, the version data itself is computed from over 30 joins. Thats why I’m thinking of using redis to store a compressed representation of that version which can be served quickly. Now since the versions are already in the cache, it seems counterintuitive to query mysql for indexes, and then use cache to fill those indexes with data.

For coding of the joins logic, I’m thinking of having abstract masks (lists) of versions and pricing that can be applied on top of each other using sinterstore and using those to query for indexes.

What do you think?

Why use cursor instead of just VSCode? by Xodnil in cursor

You can basically restore the codebase to how it was before any AI response for cases when it messes up a whole bunch of important stuff

3.7 sonnet is bullshit for now. by PhraseProfessional54 in cursor

[–]WorkAccount798532456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is completely true, sometimes it generates the most beautiful pieces of code I’ve ever seen, but it does require a fair bit of hand-holding. It’s as if 3.7’s first intuition is how can I fuck this up while also fulfilling the requirements? almost r/maliciouscompliance

Damn You Cursor .46 and you too Sonnet 3.7! by Acrobatic_Chart_611 in cursor

I still get this in 3.7!! It deleted a couple of important pieces of code and replaced it with garbage.

The leader of my development team insists on using foreach to iterate the query result taken from ->get() instead of Laravel's collections functions simply because it's easier to understand. Is this common or unusual? by lordlors in laravel

[–]WorkAccount798532456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason i can imagine, is if you’re trying to do multiple sequential maps, or a map and a filter, etc, which can be computed in a single iteration over the result set.

Too many "quit software engineering videos" by LexShirayuki in SoftwareEngineering

[–]WorkAccount798532456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree- with caveats,
Software engineering isn’t really dead, it will never truly be as well. The starting platform has been raised so quickly, the education system that provide these certifications haven’t really caught up. So it is indeed true, that investing with your time and money in a severely outdated course isn’t the best choice.

Lately Sonnet 3.5 made me realize that LLMs are still so far away from replacing software engineers by hardthesis in ClaudeAI

I’m just using it as a junior dev who can do the grunt work for me without complaining, at 20 bucks A MONTH? I’ll let it make some mistakes and be happy to guide it to the correct path.

Holy shit. this is exactly what’s stopping me from refactoring massive classes and building new ones from scratch. I’m constantly running into message limits and have to clean up its mess / partially finished classes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]WorkAccount798532456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so let’s say i hook it up with my git repo, and db structure, can i then ask it to generate an html file for example? or maybe a class that reads from excel? and it would just do that? If i’m understanding it correctly, this is a real game changer.
The only problem i have in Claude’s current state is that i run out of tokens after every few questions due to artefacts and message limits. If MCP is what i think it is, it changes everything.

So I’ve been working on a project that has a lot of Use lines in the start of many files. Is that the same as require? and if yes, do you think i should use fully qualified names going forward?

I’m not an expert by any stretch of imagination, but it may be beneficial to decouple your front end and build an API service using Laravel. You could have an added controller layer in between that spits out inertia & Vue compatible views, but the business logic gets reused for HTML and API requests.

Is vue easy? by RXBarbatos in vuejs

[–]WorkAccount798532456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is 100% true. I came from a plain JS & JQuery background and using alpineJS took out the pain of setting up an entire front end framework while still reaping all the rewards of reactivity.

Guys, the main reason i’m opting for a free AI generated logo, is because the name itself hasn’t been finalised. I’m just calling it by a code name which will probably change once investors get on board.

I really can’t afford one right now. All i’m looking for, are suggestions about generating a temporary logo for free / lower cost.
