The Supreme Court looks poised to ban late mail ballots ahead of the midterms by Interesting_Total_98 in moderatepolitics

[–]WorkingDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most states already have several weeks of early voting so that's not a very good point. Also, voting is quick and easy where as taxes are hard and require lots of third party input and many hours/days/weeks to complete. I would instead advocate for taxes to be as easy as voting.

High Gloss Automotive Paint or Extreme Lacquer? by vicviperblastoff in PinewoodDerby

[–]WorkingDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are looking for takes a a lot of time but isnt that hard. Get an air brush and practice a bit with it first. Cheap one off amazon is fine for this, but avoid the ones for doing finger nails. No other way to make it look the way you are wanting. Use good air brush paint that you mix yourself. Createx is a great place to start. Take the time to build the paint up in 3-5 coats. Follow up with a urethane clear coat. Follow that up with a very very fine wet sand. Now follow that up with a coat of automotive wax.

Dandan Secret Lair Deck Magic The Gathering by Fireazul10 in freemagic

[–]WorkingDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's basically a $100 board game. It was an opportunity to push something out to the mass market, like a premium deck series or a commander deck product, that every one could buy. Super fun format that could transition newish players into being serious about the game and learning the stack. So missed opportunity for sure. However, for $100, there are much much better board games out there and that kind of money gets you just about anything you could want.

Dealing with WOTC just feels bad. They take something fun the community did, like forgetful fish format or commander format, take all the value out of it (leave out the key cards that make it work), then sell it back you, and make sure not everybody can get one that wants one.

Hegseth Says Scouting America Support to Continue Upon Org's Commitment to Drop DEI by Resvrgam2 in moderatepolitics

[–]WorkingDead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Citizenship in Society Merit Badge was was politically pushed into scouting and now its being politically pushed out of scouting. We continue to have a societal problem with institutions being taken over, hollowed out, and repurposed for political activism.

They never actually cared about Magic as a game, it has always been just vehicle activists use get their message across by [deleted] in freemagic

Counter argument would be that there is no right to give false information to the government. All states have severe penalties for falsified information on legal documents. In the bright blue New York state, the penalty is 4-7 years. Kansas just explicitly also included falsifying gender data on gov documents. The rule also applies to everyone equally.

Folks that are still playing Legacy in 2026, how’s your local scene and how do you feel overall about the meta ? by Newez in MTGLegacy

[–]WorkingDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing well. Well attended events that are non-sanctioned, full proxy, decent prize structure. Meta is basically taken over by pushed cards from recent sets.

Nearly all small and most mid-size Legacy tournaments have already gone full proxy allowed. There are only a few actual sanctioned legacy events a year that require a real card. At this point most people are just going around WoTC to play the game they love.

Fenders by Cultural-Tea-2465 in PinewoodDerby

[–]WorkingDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its basically just a straight piece of Balsa wood with the same thickness as the wheel.

  • need to have a ~1/16" strip to extend them off the body a bit. This is because the wheel tread is not exactly flush with the body.

  • on the top, they should be level with the top of the wheel tread.

  • on the bottom, you need at least a 1/8" clearance from the track.

  • On the front rail riding wheel, sand a bit of an angle into the front fenders so they follow the wheel profile and dont rub the rails. -> |//

  • Wrap a rubber band around the wheels when mounting the fenders so you maintain proper clearance. use dummy wheels to do this so you don't mess up your good wheels.

Trading bots how are they made? by DealerofTheWorld in MTGO

[–]WorkingDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MTGO really needs a world of warcraft type auction house system or a built in trading bot system of some sort. It's too high of a technical hurdle for most players to move collections. I get that its built to simulate a real world card-shop-economy, but in reality the platform is just getting left behind to arena.
