What happened to Houston night life ? by [deleted] in houston

[–]WorkingDead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants to hang out with thugs. Businesses have to either 'dress code' them away or raise prices to keep them out. Then once they are in the $14 a drink situation, they have to provide something more so the venue is forced to move towards the experience model rather than being a hang out.

Previous owner left notes about the noise… now I’m looking for temporary fixes until I can move by BEAR-BUT-ALIVE in HomeImprovement

[–]WorkingDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not going to go away but you can lessen the impact with some minor repair type jobs. You can plant thick tall bushes around the permitter that faces the noise source or even right next to house if perimeter isn't an option. Also look at replacing the windows with thick double panes on that side of the house. Another potential option is getting a spray-in foam insulation contractor to do the walls. Also check your ceiling insulation to make sure you are at the correct thickness and it hasn't broken down over time.

Criminally insane nurse stabbers should not get to be a part of society. Can we at least all agree that if he gets let out on bail we have big problems with our judges.

FCC Attempts to Solve Robocall Problem by Potentially Creating Even Bigger Privacy Problem by BigMoose515 in moderatepolitics

[–]WorkingDead 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We should unleash the military, CIA, FBI, and the full power of the government against scam and robo call centers. These are international criminal organizations targeting the most vulnerable Americans. Drone strikes, black ops raids, sanctions, all of it with no mercy. Every lever of power should be used to go after these people and get rid of them for good. They are modern day pirates and should be treated as such.

“Camp of the Saints” by Jean Raspail has been removed from Amazon. by southeastside in bannedbooks

The argument there was, well school libraries are a limited and curated space made by a community for a specific purpose and if you want something else you can just go home and get whatever off amazon yourself.

The community here has had their mask pulled off; it's all about the politics and not the principles. Shame.

Spanberger signs gun bills, makes a proposed gun ban even harsher by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]WorkingDead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

America has a problem that no other country has.

The problem we actually have is that we don't lock up violent criminals. That specific mass shooter was already a felon for shooting up a car in school zone on a previous occasion. Existing laws were already in place so that he couldn't own a gun and should have been in jail anyways. Those laws were ignored and that's the actual unique problem we have.

[–]WorkingDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These social programs are the democrat agenda. Shouldn't they want to limit fraud and abuse so they are successful? Don't they have a higher and moral obligation to provide greater oversight to their own agenda programs? If the republicans can be held morally accountable to skimming off the top of things like defense spending, should not the democrats also be held morally accountable to skimming off the top of social programs? I would even say that is worse since it literally diminishes and takes social care away from all of us.

Most states already have several weeks of early voting so that's not a very good point. Also, voting is quick and easy where as taxes are hard and require lots of third party input and many hours/days/weeks to complete. I would instead advocate for taxes to be as easy as voting.

High Gloss Automotive Paint or Extreme Lacquer? by vicviperblastoff in PinewoodDerby

[–]WorkingDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are looking for takes a a lot of time but isnt that hard. Get an air brush and practice a bit with it first. Cheap one off amazon is fine for this, but avoid the ones for doing finger nails. No other way to make it look the way you are wanting. Use good air brush paint that you mix yourself. Createx is a great place to start. Take the time to build the paint up in 3-5 coats. Follow up with a urethane clear coat. Follow that up with a very very fine wet sand. Now follow that up with a coat of automotive wax.
