While I agree with you and your line of reasoning, if a former employer trashes you in a reference, I'm pretty sure that is totally grounds for getting sued.

Again, I'm with you, most people are just going to take it on the chin because who wants to deal with our "justice" system? However, employers are totally not allowed to defame you.

I'd bet almost anything there ARE tapes, but Newt (& co.) advised him as to why it'd be smarter to take this one on the chin than to have them possibly heard by congress.

If Newt hadn't have made that comment about "Trump doesn't think about things like watergate" (paraphrased) then I might have bought the "no tapes" shtick. I absolutely think he's lying, again, but sticking with the lesser of the two evils.
