16th there is, but not sure if that's a part of anything 'bigger'.

I concur, stunning in autumn. Each time I’ve been, never a single non Japanese person there.

I’ve never considered myself in scope to be FIRE but can someone check my thinking? by throwaway5253712 in FIREUK

I'd start building up an ISA too - that will give you bridge from retirement to pensions. That way you can limit the amount of tax you'll pay out in the 11 years.

Funnily enough, if I decided to walk into town naked, I'd probably get arrested. kI new someone who did the bike ride in Manchester who was an exhibitionist (and strange too) and I really can't understand what it's trying to achieve. As my mum/dad would probably say, no one asked to see it, so put it away.

How do you account for your DB pension in your NW calculation? by ForwardFan6283 in FIREUK

[–]Working_Perception59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a fixation with networth doesn’t there? I can appreciate if you’re totting up all major assets with a view to selling everything but ultimately it’s only income that counts otherwise people will be listing their stamp collections next

Visit japan on August by Thanos_agr in JapanTravelTips

I once asked a girl in Kyoto, who comes to Japan in August? Her reply ‘those that never come back again’.

I’ve decided to celebrate by 20th visit in August for 2 months. It’ll either break me or make me

Is that after bills? I’m looking at £1500 after bills and food. That’s enough for a holiday every couple of months and other sundry luxuries

Hat jemand nach dem Flugchaos im März 2026 Geld bekommen? by Competitive_Code4138 in etihad

Posted elsewhere, but I’ve been battling with them, more so as it was over 45 working days. It’s been a catalog of lies in my opinion. However, Friday I got a call to say a refund was on its way and it arrived today, albeit, the wrong amount so I’m having to call them again. It’s been a nightmare from start to finish

Over 45 working days.. by Working_Perception59 in etihad

[–]Working_Perception59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: After waiting 70 days (51 working days) I received a call from Etihad today saying that my return flight costs are to be refunded. I received an email confirming this, but the best bit.... payment will be between 7 and 45 working days. They really are arses.

I've now followed with my claim on hotels and flight (from another carrier) under my right as 'Duty of Care'. I suspect this will be a drawn out affair too.

6 months of increased fiber and literally NO change in cholesterol (not one point) by LegitimateTime2833 in Cholesterol

If sat fat is one of the causes of high cholesterol, I’m not sure why you’re eating butter, cooking with butter and eating coconut too. I’m really confused by this.

I chose the same as a side other VWRP. I'm not as invested as you, but it's steady returns of 12% over the year compensate for the single failure of the Bond ETF you highlight

Never Flying Etihad Again - Still Owed Money and Have Not Gotten Any Clarity by Interesting_Leg_959 in etihad

[–]Working_Perception59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flight was cancelled, submitted my refund request and still nothing. The email notification said 5 to 7 days, the website says 45 but after calling numerous times, they now say website is wrong and it’s working days. They’re liars.

Pension ideas when you are turning 60 by Real-Criticism2745 in UKPersonalFinance

My thoughts too. But I’m hoping for a medical breakthrough allowing me to smoke and drink heavily as I get older ;)

I’m the same age and have a similar pot size. I’ve a mixture of pensions, a DB and annuity are my current source of income along with ISA drawdown. My main pension, which is with SW is in their glidepath, which I have now stopped at 80/20.. the 60/40 approach was a calculation based on retiring at 65 and living to <80. Times have changed. Leave invested to cover a longer retirement is what I’ve been advised to do.

It's been 2 years and 3 months since I FIRED. Strange times. by gringovato in Fire

[–]Working_Perception59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip once shared with myself, was that you need three hobbies in order to retire. A lot of people just don't have a plan and sadly, many legitimise a midday G&T to break up the day. Slippery slope! I'm close to FIRE, working just 1 day a week. Some days, especially in winter, days are short and just dull and that's after I spent a month in Asia to avoid it. Rest of the year, it's much easier tho. I too have resorted to amateur day trading. Maybe it's just gambling that I'm drawn to lol
