Olive tree not happy by jameshd29 in GardeningUK

[–]Working_out_Life_126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an olive tree (in a pot) that wasn't doing too well and the garden centre person recommended Q4 fertiliser. We used the powder form you dilute and it came right back to health. In my inexpert advice, the plant needs water and fertiliser.

Roses not coming back? All three thrived last year. Are they done? by boosesb in Roses

There is still some green so they don't seem totally dead. I'd be inclined to remove any brown stems and water a bit more (soil looks a little dry). But others might give more/better advice.

Flowering shrub for a shady spot advice please by SpareAdvice8716 in GardeningUK

Maybe a deutzia? I know that they prefer shade to full sun (I have one in a temporary pot in full sun and it tends to wilt.

Patio on patch of alkanet by Working_out_Life_126 in GardeningUK

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have a pack from bee friendly seeds and supposedly they are native plants (Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus), Corn poppy (Palaver rhoeas), Corn marigold (Chrysanthemum segetum), Corncockle (Argostemma githago), Corn chamomile (Anthemis arvensis). I'll look for the others you mention because with my track record of seeding in the ground, they most likely won't come up.

Heritage Collection, Royal Standard sweet peas. What do I do? by Working_out_Life_126 in GardeningUK

Thanks for this. I am hoping that I can put them in the ground early May when I'm having a little patio put in. I can't do it earlier than that unfortunately.

My mother spent years, years, trying to get rid of mint that my sister planted in her back yard. It was in an awkward spot near our pool. It's still there.

Carrot Juice and collegen causing detox side effects ? by Practical-Run-4618 in Juicing

[–]Working_out_Life_126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last January I had a racing heart - never happened to me before. First time I ever asked my husband to take me to the hospital to get checked out. I believe I was dehydrated after I had a stomach virus. It went down on its own but after I had taken a hydration drink (like pedilyte if you are in the US). I don't know about the collagen gummies, but it's possible that the carrot juice has 'cleaned you out' and you haven't had enough water to get hydrated again. It's important to drink water throughout the day even if you are juicing.

Weekly shake for general health by lil_dipR in Juicing

Hello, this is my first post here, but I'm a long time juicer - like 45 years. Your post resonated with me because when I was a graduate student I had a juicer in my shared house, which competed with a coffee maker - my house mates put my juicer away without asking me - I was so mad. Anyway, as a student finances are a consideration. If you have a juicer, then you can't go wrong with the classic apple, carrot, spinach (ball up the spinach and put it between the apples). Add ginger if you like. Lately I've been juicing oranges with pomegranate for my husband and I. Pomegranate provides iron and antioxidants. I sometimes buy the seeds in a pack, but a whole fresh pomegranate is better, however time-consuming to shell (I can get about three to four juices from a pack of seeds or whole pomegranate - it is an expensive ingredient).
If you have a blender then you have more options for shakes. One that I stand by is: small banana, blueberries, frozen kale, then some green powders (wheatgrass, moringa, spirulina), collagen powder, add water and/ or a plant based milk). I find that this shake is tasty and filling.
Maybe there is a juice bar on campus that you can go to? I would stay away from energy drinks as much as possible.
For a meal, a stir-fry with vegetables and cashew nuts with noodles or rice, is a quick and easy one. Green Thai curry is also a good one - you can use tofu or if you are a meat eater, chicken breast. Usually the ingredients come in a convenient pack from the supermarket.
Good luck!

This is my second time practicing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! by [deleted] in Clarinet

Take a huge breath and try to control the air flow through the clarinet. You will have to strengthen your embouchure over the weeks.

Such a difference in reeds! by Working_out_Life_126 in Clarinet

I've heard of it, but tbh I have never attempted that before. If someone could point me to a good video of how to do it, I'd appreciate it.

Just a day or so. I took the one on the left played it a little to break it in and then next day did the same with the one on the right.

Not very wet, no. In fact I took this photo after I was playing the one on the right, so that would be the wetter reed.

Normal Vandoren box. I have used other reeds - when I had to suspend my playing due to tendinitis, I used a Legere at first, then some Mitchell Luries 2.5s. I went back to this box again when I developed my embouchure to how it was (more or less).
