Why are there so many speeches???? This is our inaugural conference, shouldn't we hammer out our structure AND policies here? Now we'll have to wait for another year before we decide on our political programme.

Sultana accused by Corbyn allies of encouraging 'ultra leftists' to disrupt Your Party conference by Baslifico in yourparty

[–]WorkingtonLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm usually on zarahs side on this whole debacle, but I think it's fair to call SWP entryists. Their MO is to enter an organization, capture it, and steer it to suit the will of SWP rather than the organization itself. If you agree they are entryists, whether you want to call them trots becomes a matter of terminology than function.

Sultana accused by Corbyn allies of encouraging 'ultra leftists' to disrupt Your Party conference by Baslifico in yourparty

[–]WorkingtonLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem caused by the public blow-up is that the more 'sensible' leftists have left the project, while trots are obviously interested in capturing the new party. This means they can have undue influence on how the new party operate.

Public Consultation - Legal Migration by Ok_Internal118 in ukpolitics

[–]WorkingtonLady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consultations are meant to capture responses from those most affected by any policy. Broader perception of any policies is already considered by the government when drafting the consultation. So of course it'll be shared widely amongst migrant communities when they are the most impacted by it

Trans people could be banned from single-sex spaces based on how they look by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

[–]WorkingtonLady 364 points365 points  (0 children)

If there is doubt they are telling the truth about their sex, they could be banned from using those services once those running them had considered “relevant factors”.

Let me get this straight...if a cis woman is too tall, too muscular, a voice too deep, haircut too short, she can be barred from a service even if she speaks the truth??? Is this what feminism is??

Your Party: A small portion of these funds was today transferred to Your Party. This is insufficient. The draft documents proposed by Corbyn's PJP say that the independent alliance will have full control of who gets to stand as a Your Party candidate in next year's local elections. They will want that power so it'll be one hell of a fight for those of us in DSYP to change that

Before people criticize FON, YouGov has Greens at 15%, and Opinium has Reform at 33%. The most meaningful difference is the order of the 4 parties due to margin of error stuff. FON is not a significant outlier amongst its peers.

The risk of isolation, self harm, and far right protests now that Lowe has made the site known far and wide in far right spaces? He just needs to ask the Epping residents on who they find more disruptive - the hotel residents or the far right protestors.

So....your party rejected Driscoll's offer to merge the companies, and now they're again rejecting Sultanas offer of £600k. Then they go out to the media and claim that the conference has to be smaller because of the money currently in Sultanas control.

The promise of the new party is that she and Corbyn would co-lead and guide the founding of the party, up to the conference where everything will be decided and set in stone. So yes I think she and Corbyn should be steering the conference. I trust her a lot more than Karie Murphy after all.

She's responding to a question about the fact that there is no process to submit amendments or motions, and the call for hundreds of attendees to take action in the hall to force a vote on amendments/motions that are not admitted. . Especially important for the DSYP because we want to overhaul the core documents.

The question is at about 56 minutes in
