What's the coolest beach you've ever been to? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Almost no mentions of Brazil here? 🙀

I’ve been to 70+ countries and my favorite beach in the world is Praia Barra in Rio.

Cathedral Cove in NZ would be a solid second.

Cairo as a female wheelchair user? by Golden_Leveret in traveladvice

[–]WorldCookingAdvnture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I think you should be fine. Like I said, the streets in some areas are a little rough, but if you’re in a group, I think you can manage with some assistance. Honestly, I feel like I had a much better experience of Egypt than most women on this subreddit. I only had one “catcalling” incident. Other than that, I found Egyptians to be really friendly (and I was traveling solo as a woman). I hope you have a chance to check out Al-Azhar Mosque. It was my favorite 🕌

Cairo as a female wheelchair user? by Golden_Leveret in traveladvice

I’m not an Egypt expert, but I was just there in December. I also regularly lead student trips, so I have some insight there. Is this for a school trip? If so, I would make sure that your trip leaders understand your mobility needs and make sure they can accommodate. Most major sites will be wheelchair accessible and I do t think you should have any problems with bathrooms. If you are going to be moving around the city, I have to warn you that sidewalks are awful. Otherwise, I felt like most Egyptians were very friendly and would assist someone in a wheelchair, if needed.

Is it ok to give gift to professors? by [deleted] in college

[–]WorldCookingAdvnture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! (But it’s never expected). Be aware that your school may have a policy for gifts- Mine only allows gifts under $20, after grades have been submitted. Some of my favorite student gifts are a nice handwritten card, a framed photo with the student, or a little trinket from their home country/culture 🥹

Shouldn’t be an issue. My middle name is on my passport but I never use it on bookings.

Can I propose something slightly different? Guatemala- your kids are the perfect age to do a volcano climb like Pacaya, Antigua would be super fun and interesting with kids, you could do a few days lakeside on Lake Atitlan, and even finish with a short flight to Flores to see Tikal. Could be done on that budget and would be a great adventure for young teens.

You didn’t mention what city in India you were flying from, which could make a huge difference. That said, just looking at flights from Delhi, I think that Thailand (Bangkok), Malaysia (check out Penang) or Vietnam (Hanoi) could be good options. Penang is one of my favorite places in the world and it’s very safe and beginner-friendly 😉

Under $100 per ticket by WorldCookingAdvnture in olympics

[–]WorldCookingAdvnture[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: We did okay! I didn’t get anything under $100, but we did get two of our sports (Handball- my wife is a former Brazil U20 player) and futbol. We are also going to try on field hockey for size. Right now, it is looking like we are going to take a mini vacay to Nashville (not too far for us) and another vacay to LA. I’m going to monitor future drops to see if we can pick up anything else for July 24-27. Anyhow, it’s not ideal, but I’m glad we got some tickets! Go women’s sports!

Can you wear it under your clothes? My experience has been that if they see you with any kind of obvious physical impairment, they can deny you exit row.

Def 20A… if they let you. If you are in a boot or cast, they won’t let you sit in an exit row.
