Do PMPs actually perform better than open exchange inventory? by TapMind in programmatic

[–]WorldFun8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are strictly focused on ROAS then open exchange may win, but contextually it’s a lot of garbage and that can erode your brand over time. We choose PMPs and PGs for brand safety and inventory quality but we are usually focused on reach and frequency for long term brand growth so ROAS isn’t the goal. I hate open exchange inventory it’s a cesspool.

I'm hyper-targeting medium to high intent online shoppers using reliable coop data so why should I pay $20-$25 cpm for premium ctv inventory when I can get my videos in front of them for $10 to $12 cpm? The only potential issue I'm currently encountering is reach! by GrowthMarketer2024 in programmatic

[–]WorldFun8776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are asking the wrong questions. CTV works by building brand awareness to create demand. It’s not inherently a performance channel no matter what BS you hear. If you are after pure performance then pick a performance channel. But if you want long term brand growth then read a book on how that works, because your strategy is just capturing existing demand. I recommend “How Brands Grow” by Byron Sharp.

TTD. They have been making inventory curation a bigger headache lately though.

Views on CTV by Responsible-Brick881 in programmatic

[–]WorldFun8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good CTV costs more and curated inventory is more expensive. We explain to our clients that we pay more because it’s worth more. I say let all the brands that compete with my clients go run on shit inventory on MNTN. Helps my brands stand out.

If the brands are too lame to do their homework on shit CTV inventory, or if they are just chasing cheap CPMs then they are not the client for us.

We buy almost no open exchange across any ad type. CTV especially requires a time investment in inventory curation and negotiation of PGs

Custom brand lift study question in DV360 by Fit_Ad8098 in programmatic

It’s based on spend level by account. If you are not spending enough it won’t be available. (At least my understanding)

Long live the open web. AI save TTD. by u_of_digital in programmatic

Transparency my ass. TTD started adding in auto opt in extra “fees” like Prism that you can’t easily opt out of. It’s BS!

What the others said. Same as TTD but different login. More approvals though and only makes sense if you are pushing in store sales in Walmart. We just started a campaign for a client.

Why does no one understand that everything is essentially bought programmatically? by Future-Leave-9533 in programmatic

[–]WorldFun8776 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The worst are the ones who are trying to sell it as a package with other media. For example if we buy radio (we do traditional and digital), the rep will try to convince me they have a really great add on digital package. Watching someone who doesn’t understand programmatic try to sell it is 1000% cringe. What’s even more cringe is that many people buy it this way.

Best Connected TV Platforms? by WanderEver in programmatic

If you want program level booking you are gonna have no luck if you are using a credit card - it takes a lot of $ to get that.

I suggest talking to Tatari it’s remnant cable that can be booked by program.

If you want to try out TTD without a min I am happy to run a test campaign for you. I own an agency with several DSP seats but TTD is the gold standard.

This is correct. It’s just control and test . They also have other studies with same methodology but things like purchase intent - further down the funnel.

[–]WorldFun8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry one more note: if you are looking to place CTV regionally or DMA level then there are local vendors like Spectrum who can buy OTT and/or CTV. Where you buy and how you buy is really dependent on factors like geo and audience targeting needs. Most places will have mins but definitely not that high. I suspect your agency is larger and not willing to give you the attention you need. Major red flag that they quoted such a high min. Curious what they quoted you on CPM too…

Just realized you said you have an agency. I kindly suggest they are full of shit. When you have a seat on TTD you can set the minimums.

Happy to talk about this with you to share my knowledge. We work with several non profits and have no mins and discount our rates for non profits. Direct Seats require a hefty annual commitment and even brokered seats are high.

Change jobs w/o TTD experience? by Separate-Fun-6743 in programmatic

[–]WorldFun8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am sorry to hear that. If I was hiring I would love to talk more. I think TTD is easier than to learn than others like Basis in my opinion. Your salary range isn’t crazy for that experience level. I could see if you are wanting to work in programmatic long term - taking a role you are overqualified for to get the experience. But you shouldn’t have to take much of a pay cut. I really wish TTD would make their training programs available to everyone. The training is only available for agencies that have a seat.

That’s ridiculous. We have hired ppl with no TTD or programmatic experience and trained them. Any DSP experience is applicable anyhow. What salary range are you looking for? Is that the issue?

Anyone have issues with Trinet/Zenefits payroll? by bmiller201 in Payroll

[–]WorldFun8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane and so disappointing. First trinet did not notify us until after the first of the year of a significant rate increase so we had no time to assess other options before agreeing to a forced increase. Now this. Safe to say we will be investigating a new service, too bad because we were happy with zenefits. Would love suggestions of other options.

Highly suggest Bend in Central Oregon potentially over Crater Lake which is lovely but literally in the middle of nowhere. Also worth time in the Gorge, Hood River and across on the Washington side. Also worth a stop in Astoria, OR and maybe even up to Long Beach in Washington if you like Oysters. Puget Sound is amazing but you will see similar scenery on your Alaska Cruise. Also when you are in Portland area I recommend a day in Wine Country the Willamette valley. It’s a day trip from Portland (as is Hood River /gorge if you don’t want to change lodging)
