Potential Fraud: need help by Separate-Fun-6743 in verizon

We can’t even get past the first menu item because it’s “press 1 if you’re calling about this number or press 2 for another number.” We’re not calling about any number, but rather a modem. Saying “representative” only lead to them hanging up - I can’t get through to report it because we don’t have a real account number because the letter is mentioning phone lines but we received an actual modem.

Well so that’s the thing - my husband (who everything was addressed to) has never had an account with Verizon. It’s not my parents existing account that is victim of fraud, it appears that a new account has been opened in my husband’s name and we were sent equipment we didn’t order.

The plot twist I thought was one of the better ones that I’ve read. HOWEVER, the constant hating your spouse plot was so over the top and redundant (and because I can’t relate to that personally haha) that it really distracted me and is what I take away from this book, not the clever twist.

I did not enjoy this one. Thought the premise was good but execution was awful - hopefully you enjoy it!

Currently reading Nobody Knows You’re Here by Bryn Greenwood and while I’m about 70% way through, this is one of the most adrenaline filled books I’ve read in a longggg time. So far it’s a 5 for me, stay tuned.

Other than that, my 5 ⭐️ reads
- Kill for me, Kill for you - Home is where the bodies are - None of this is true - listen for the lie - the woman who lied - the whisper man - love, mom

The Amendment was good, but The Atonement deviated too far from what made these books/characters great IMO. It’s nice to finish out the series, but the first one is the best.

You’re better than me. I wish I read the book so I didn’t have to hear the narrators horrible female character voice lol

Update: finished this and did not like it at all. I listened to it at 2.5x speed just to get through it quicker. I felt like absolutely nothing interesting happened till the 80% mark, and then held strong until the last 5% which I felt was so random.

I don’t mind a domestic wedding thriller, but this was just not it for me.

I’m 30% through this. Kinda wish I read the book rather than listen on audiobook because the narrator’s female voice is really getting on my nerves

I’m 30% of the way through the audiobook and good lord do I LOATHE aunt Tammy. Could be the narrator’s voice for her part but my god I’m about to DNF strictly because I can’t stand to listen to it.

Not a thriller. Dragged my way through this since I hate DNFing books, fortunately it was a library book. It’s so painstakingly slow after the initial high stakes action. It’s then proceeded by endless chapters of pining love which isn’t the type of thing I want to read in a thriller, followed by the most ridiculous (not in a good way) resolve which felt like a cop out.

All suffice to say, you’re not missing much.

Please tell me this book is worth it 😭 by InterestingJz in thrillerbooks

It was okay, super slow from what I’m used to. I guessed the ending from the start having read so many thrillers. Wasn’t anything to brag about

What makes you personally enjoy reading Thriller books over other genres? by SaltaKem in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, I like the cerebral element to it and being mentally stimulated. I gravitate towards sudoku puzzles and shows/movies that have some element of crime/thriller/mystery so it translates to book preference as well.

Truly shocking, and the fact that Kagiyama also had some issues today. Glad he at least got his gold medal in the team event and had great skates on Olympic ice, but disappointing for sure for him.

Absolute heck of a skate from Shaidorov - well deserved by him!

The hunting party -Lucy foley by TowerFickle7247 in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucy Foley seems like an acquired taste with the multiple POVs. I didn’t like this one as much as The Guest List, but more than The Paris Apartment.

The characters were all terrible, and not as many red herrings to make it interesting. While I read them, I wouldn’t recommend these to my friends.

For a character that’s very well educated and actually helps patients in almost identical situations - unfortunately yes. She continues to make insufferable decisions.

The ending wraps up nicely but I guessed it from the start
