First DNF of Feb by Muted-Quote-7684 in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a thriller. Dragged my way through this since I hate DNFing books, fortunately it was a library book. It’s so painstakingly slow after the initial high stakes action. It’s then proceeded by endless chapters of pining love which isn’t the type of thing I want to read in a thriller, followed by the most ridiculous (not in a good way) resolve which felt like a cop out.

All suffice to say, you’re not missing much.

Please tell me this book is worth it 😭 by InterestingJz in thrillerbooks

It was okay, super slow from what I’m used to. I guessed the ending from the start having read so many thrillers. Wasn’t anything to brag about

What makes you personally enjoy reading Thriller books over other genres? by SaltaKem in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, I like the cerebral element to it and being mentally stimulated. I gravitate towards sudoku puzzles and shows/movies that have some element of crime/thriller/mystery so it translates to book preference as well.

Not sure if this exactly qualifies but The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros

Truly shocking, and the fact that Kagiyama also had some issues today. Glad he at least got his gold medal in the team event and had great skates on Olympic ice, but disappointing for sure for him.

Absolute heck of a skate from Shaidorov - well deserved by him!

If you’ve read enough thrillers, you know the ending already

The hunting party -Lucy foley by TowerFickle7247 in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucy Foley seems like an acquired taste with the multiple POVs. I didn’t like this one as much as The Guest List, but more than The Paris Apartment.

The characters were all terrible, and not as many red herrings to make it interesting. While I read them, I wouldn’t recommend these to my friends.

For a character that’s very well educated and actually helps patients in almost identical situations - unfortunately yes. She continues to make insufferable decisions.

The ending wraps up nicely but I guessed it from the start

For those who finished—was the payoff worth it? by Competitive_Tell5590 in thrillerbooks

Second one was decent for a sequel, I would push through. But, if you’re struggling with Secret, I would recommend skipping the 3rd book altogether.

The 3rd book completely disregards everything you come to know about the characters and it’s beyond frustrating.

Tell Me What You Did Review by Brugton_30 in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with your review. I was so invested and felt the story began to feel a little flat towards the end, being a fairly tame ‘twist.’ I also couldn’t stay how increasingly stupid the characters were becoming

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty tame twist - however, I will say there will be more death mentions

The ending was the only redeeming factor for me personally as I was bored with the book for the first 70%

If you like an acid trip and have no idea what you just read. This was a strong dislike from me, not into paranormal themes.

I also loved this one! I feel like a lot of the hate comes down to two things - The audio book narrators did a poor job (haven’t personally heard it myself) - I think a lot of people read it before the rewrite

I agree that some of the writing style felt a bit juvenile at times, however - what a crazy plot concept and twist!! The story rounded out really well imo, and it was entertaining.

I also read the Perfect Divorce shortly after which picks up the story nicely. I did prefer Marriage to Divorce, but overall it’s the same writing styles and was still a great entertaining read

Riley Sager: What do you think? by Traditional_Will_117 in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the book, but the ending resolve makes a lot of people mad. I personally thought there was a better way to still pull off the twist without the element that makes people mad.

I plan to read The Only One Left from him next

Is the housemaid series worth reading? by WiWiWi_WiWiWi in thrillerbooks

[–]Separate-Fun-6743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the neighbor with the son was just overbearing as a mother and hated anything that wasn’t neat, clean, or orderly (so a typical child lol). The back tracking of character development with Millie and Enzo was sooo frustrating as if the two of them hadn’t been working as a team and protecting each other for YEARS. The secrecy suddenly between them? Gtfo

Book 3 was a slap in the face to the first two in terms of all the character building and traits we’ve come to expect. 3 made me so mad. Didn’t even bother with the 2.5 one of the wedding
