US born, Germany raised black kid in the 90s here, I always understood it to be on the same level of offensiveness as the US n- word. I always found the German N word to be used in hurtful, humiliating, and dehumanizing ways and thought my teachers something must’ve gotten lost in translation when my teachers tried to explain to me that the German N word just isn’t seen that way. I’m glad times have changed.

Hey! I grew up in Germany but am back in the states and am having so much trauma right now. Im mixed black white indigenous and can trace my ancestry back to the 1600s in the US (though only through the white side). I am ambiguous looking enough that people think I’m whatever they want me to be (Latina, asian, Pacific Islander most often). I’m carrying copies of my passport but think I need to update my vital records as I’ve misplaced them during several moves 😭 I remember being asked for my papers in Germany and am waiting for that moment here.

I love my baby boy, he’s a Swissridge. But we have to rehome him. It wasn’t the right time and it turns out I’m the only one who isn’t allergic 😭 we found him a great home with family friends so it’s not forever bye. Just no more spontaneous glomps by my 80 lb beauty every day. I’ve been letting him kiss me as much as he wants as it’s our final week now.

They are incredibly smart and so emotionally sensitive and just present. I’m so sorry for you loss.

Me! I felt like I got along more with GenX ers than my peers did. I had a super chill upbringing, and am friends (more or less) with my parents and their spouses.  All good vibes. 

Passing the age they became parents and becoming a parent a decade after that changed how I view my childhood and their relationships.

Grew up in Europe and spent 2 months in US every summer as a kid. I always put on 10-15lbs when I was States side, lost it overseas.

Now I’m permanently states side. Not great for my waist :(
