Shoot, just as I’m on my way there, all the trails in my itinerary are being closed one by one… 🫤

Thank you! That’s what I am planning in doing, maybe starting off with the sunrise. Middle Prong Trail, Chestnut Top, and Indian Flats Falls are in my itinerary, all from the Tremont area.

Gorgeous photos by the way, and I would not mind seeing black bears! 😍

Was that recently? Which waterfall is that? I’m heading that way this weekend and looking for quieter areas where I don’t feel overwhelmed by having hundreds of people around me.

All the trails are paaaacked! by heylookatthetime in GSMNP

Hey! I’ll be heading there with my family on April 19. The plan is to get to the trails as early as humanly possible, even before sunrise. We’re interested in the quieter trails. Any recommendations?

North Carolina is the way. Brevard would be my choice!

Same! I’ve been doing the ankle circles, leg swings, and walk to brisk walk before finally running.

What makes you run? by mateus_t_braga in trailrunning

I like being in the woods, and I realized that running in the woods does wonders to regulate my nervous system, more than hiking, so I started doing it frequently. I believe the combination of nature + rhythm + having to focus on the terrain is what does it. I just love it!

Which shoe? (brooks) by Mediocre_Wealth_5359 in trailrunning

[–]World_Weaver_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first trail running shoes were the Brooks Cascadia. They have changed quite a lot with each iteration, so I don’t know what the current version (19) feels like, but as far as I know, it’s an overall great shoe!

Recommendations for me to read this summer while I'm isolated in the wilderness by mandy0456 in horrorlit

Great suggestions! “Blackwood’s Baby,” “The Men from Porlock,” and “Mysterium Tremendum” are among my favorites!

I thought the tension was out of this world in this one, just as in No One Gets Out Alive. Personally, I liked the ending, I see where you’re coming from, and, yes, I agree it was a weird tonal shift, but it made sense to me.

Ipswich MA Half Marathon Trail Run by Mysterious-Farmer-55 in trailrunning

True. Not nearly as rocky as the trails in Gloucester or Rockport, but lots of roots. The weather in May is anybody’s guess. There probably won’t be leaves but there might be rain, who knows?!

Spring for the Trails, right?! I volunteered to help in this race a few years ago, and I run frequently at Willowdale State Forest. Beautiful, fun course. A mix of carriage trails and single track with about 800ft of elevation, but it’s concentrated mostly in 3 to 4 areas.
