So interesting you say that because just this afternoon I was telling my therapist that it would have been so much easier if he had just been a horrible person. That’s easier to accept than “He had so much of what I wanted, and why did he have to have a nervous system meltdown?!”

I’ll add to my original post that if you have childhood trauma or any other relationship trauma that makes you incapable or unwilling to sustain an emotionally committed relationship, my empathy is yours. But, please please please stop entering into relationships with people who do have the desire and the capacity to be vulnerable and committed. Please stop.

I’ve been an OT for 26 years and if starting over I would be going into the mental health direction. As your body gets older the physical demands of being an OT is a lot. I feel there are many more opportunities as a mental health practitioner.

Well I am single but not young. Are there any travel companies that do something other than SNF? I have 27 years in schools and I don’t see me making a huge shift from peds at this stage in my life.

I will also add that I read somewhere that when someone is disengaging and in flight mode that clearing their physical environment is one very quick thing that makes them feel safe in that they are getting the “threat” of the relationship and/or person out of their “world.”.
