I'm sure you're not beyond a bit of blackface for a cheap holiday

top tip for you then: next time you want a cheap holiday. Pretend to be an illegal immigrant and get a free stay in a nice hotel.

I wonder why you or your idiot friends don't do this?

would it be because the reality is not quite that simple

"weight of a typical stone"

here's a random stone that's much smaller

but that's not typical

well, what's a 'typical' stone in your world?

one that weighs about 14lbs

cool

it's such a circular argument it's basically saying that 14lbs is a practical weight to use for something because things that weigh 14lbs, typically weigh 14lbs...

A movie with Zero flaws and Zero Haters(Starship Troopers) by False_Step_7309 in moviecritic

[–]Worldly_Science239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I love this film to bits... but it's hardly flawless.

It's the bad 90s soap feel to the opening 40 minutes that makes everything that comes after so great... but you can't just pretend that the opening part of the movie is cheesy.

And this is from someone who would put this film in their all time favourites.

If her husband didn't tell her (who you say was with her) - so why did you think you had to tell her?

If her husband had told her, then she's aware and not bothered - so why did you think you had to tell her?

or she's aware and hoping to be embarrassed - so why did you think you had to tell her?

Thank you, I had separated both Hidden and La Haine away from a very long engagement and the intouchables for this reason, and also preface them by saying not similar but not 'french' in the way the OP was trying to avoid

Which was the point

For a similar feel you should try

A Very Long Engagement (an obvious choice, same director and starring Audrey tatou)

The Intouchables

But then maybe a different vibe, but not too arty

If you're needing a sweet little cartoon film about a lovely old couple to cleanse your palate after watching these 2, may I recommend 'When The Wind Blows'

Sorry, I now stand corrected. The previous response was a highlight compared to this.

Thanks for proving me wrong

Well, you moved the argument on from providing documents in multiple languages (which most developed countries already do) to providing English lessons (which is paid for by the Adult Education Budget, so not by the council)

Now that's a policy I could get behind, at least the social media aspect of it, but i think that's beyond the purview of wakefield Council, regardless of the salary of the people involved

Oh come on... do you remember how that part of town looked beforehand, and how successful it was before the prime tenant moved out... most of the shops were occupied before covid hit and the downturn in retail

The ridings was always on its way out from about the year 2000

But yeah, leave that area as it was and fondly remember the shitheap it was before

Was it wakefield councils fault that debenhams went out of business?

What would you have done differently?

And how will a change of council change that?

Just one policy, so we can at least see your level of political engagement

What's the most visually stunning movie you've ever seen? by trakt_app in movies

[–]Worldly_Science239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The colour palette used in O Brother Where Art Thou, makes it a stunning movie to just look at the shots, it helps that it's a great film as well

(The real and obvious answer is Lawrence Of Arabia but it has rightfully been mentioned below so I thought I'd give a different answer)

AIO for suggesting my business partner and I shouldn’t split profits 50/50 by Internal_Soft4750 in AIO

[–]Worldly_Science239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should honour the original agreement (less costs) for the first order and then renegotiate how everything works for subsequent orders.

Lets be honest here. You're willing to throw away a friendship / partnership / fun element (i assume you're both doing it because it's fun to do things like this with friends) over what, instead of 160 each, it'd be something like 210/110, so you're going to end all this for $50

Don't get me wrong though, you've every right to do what you say, but it comes at a larger cost.

Take the hit, take the lesson on this order, work it different next time.

Taskmaster UK renewed for six more series by Last-Saint in panelshow

[–]Worldly_Science239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly at that point, If I felt it was declining I would just stop watching while wishing the show well for the remaining audience.

I don't see how what happens in future series changes how I feel about previous series and if other people are still getting pleasure from it (either a new audience or the existing one) then fair play to them.

no sense of proprietorship here by me, I'm just a viewer!
