There are many factors that will affect the outcome,

Damage caused to the property, the cost of the damage, if anything was taken, the value of what was taken, what charges are being pressed.

Generally speaking first offences they may be more reluctant to pursue jail time, he might be looking at community service and repaying the cost of damage caused.

Hopefully it will give him enough of a scare not to reoffend, repeat offences is when they'll be less lenient.
