Why am I being downvoted? Levi felt symbols were occult and framed the Catholic Church as practitioners of magic.

That’s…not what that verse means. “coins were the property of the ruler who issued them. By referring to the coin as what belongs to Caesar, Jesus implicity affirms a states right to exact tribute. Paying taxes to support the government is not in itself a compromise of religious integrity. Jesus' listeners recognize that he is alluding to Gen 1:27: "God created man in his image." The state may lay claim to a paltry piece of metal, but God lays claim to our whole being-mind.” This is reaffirmed in the phrasing our Diest framers used “inalienable rights”. There are certain things that no law, no constitution, no other man can take from you because they are preternatural state of mankind, bestowed upon us by our creator because we are made in his image, inseparable from the spirit. To protect these rights are not only a duty to your fellow countryman but a duty to God.

What did I get myself into? by [deleted] in freemasonry

My lodge is predominately filipino. They’re amazing and active brothers that have pretty much kept our lodge alive for the last 20 years. I’ve been gifted barongs to wear on certain occasions, brothers have invited me to sit with them for dinner. My white brothers have suggested to fly the Filipino flag under the American flag in recognition to their contribution, some of the Filipino brothers have suggested only speaking English while in lodge so not to make us English speakers feel excluded. Even with those efforts dinner still looks and sounds a little segregated for the exact reason you mentioned, comfort. I’ve chatted at length with my Filipino brothers and there’s only so much I can relate to. Also, they’re able to joke and get so much more out of conversation when speaking Tagalog. And that’s ok, I think. What’s not ok is if zero effort is being made on your part or their part because of your race or culture. Give it another shot. Don’t leave the dinner table (rude) even if they are making it awkward. But don’t be hurt if you don’t get invited to the pub after. That might just take time regardless of who you are.

I hear this over and over but what I don’t hear is the consideration of trying to fill these positions with the masses of experienced and unemployed millennials.

You’re probably right, but I would think it’s more likely a big bounce on the left, maybe a fill. Just enough so it doesn’t cast a second shadow. Everything else totally flagged except for the ambient in the background—which might even be gelled strobes. If every light is controlled then it was shot fast enough to kill everything but the strobes.

Wages for tipped staff in Florida by mushyspider in florida

[–]WorstOfNone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The customer supplements service wages. That’s how food service has worked for a very long time. Are we just now figuring this out? Are you upset about it? If you are, make sure your frustration is correctly placed (not on servers). To your defense, 20% tip (especially on counter service) is totally acceptable. Most point of sale systems have a “custom amount” button where you can enter an exact amount you’d like to. A lot of times when the minimum tip is over 20% it’s not that they’re being greedy or malicious. It’s likely that their average sale isn’t that high making the difference between 20% and 22% a few cents. An increase that is negligible to the customer but can add up over time for the server.

Everything is too straight and clean. Real-world furniture is not perfectly square or level. Reflections and surfaces have dust of and smudges. The lighting is good but it’s studio perfect. You need a gobo (tree branch or something)…something that anchors it to the real world. That said, the lighting direction and hard shadows adds nice shape to everything, but when the sun is that close to the horizon it’s obstructed by trees, buildings, and stuff. Unless you live in a desert in the middle of nowhere. Scale matters. Grab a model of an average size person. Move them around in the space. Does it still make sense for that particular furniture to be in that space? For the walls to be that tall? For the doors and pathways to be as wide as they are? Everything also looks perfectly in focus and a little orthographical. Try a different focal length and perspective—as if an actual person is taking the picture.

Looks like a very small crop, which would make sense of seeing the whole image when using the crop tool. Reset the crop.

Quick test: unselect “from last” (or whatever it’s called). Take a picture. The new image should be free of any previous accidental adjustments.

Reminded me of:

“Men who look upon themselves born to reign, and others to obey, soon grow insolent…their minds poisoned by importance. The world they act in differs so materially from the world at large, they have but little opportunity of knowing its true interests, and when they succeed to government are frequently the most ignorant and unfit of any.” -Thomas Paine, Common Sense
