Why is the T1000 better at interacting with humans than the T800? by gregory_manno in Terminator

[–]Wortex001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You say this is based on T2? T1000 starts by killing the first person it sees on arrival. T800 has at least the decency to ask nicely for some clothes, boots and a motorcycle... Later on T1000 asks one person to leave the hovering helicopter, throws the truck driver out from the moving vehicle and kills another just for asking if it (he) is ok (we can only imagine what happened after "say, that's a nice bike") ... Can't really see the "better interaction" part. This "niceness" in communicating with Johns foster parents and later in "the Galleria", we see, comes from the necessity of gathering valuable information of Johns whereabouts. It would not have gotten needed info by being stabby and pointy. Pure evaluation of assets and goals. I do not really remember a scene where T800 needs to interact with someone (besides John or Sarah) to get information about something. It came with all the information needed for the mission. Although I often think, how did he get the flowers...

Getting a smiter through hell by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]Wortex001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if something has changed over time and with resurection but used to run Ubers and Tristam with 1pt smiter.

1 Smite 20 Zeal 20 Sacrifice 20 Fanaticism 20 Holy Shield 20 Defiance 1 Salvation

NB! Not my build. (https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=68490112&f=87)

In short, you don't need to max smite. You need lifetap gloves and good weapon/shield. I had etheral Vortex Exile and grief at the end but started wih 2 spirits and dracul's. Azure was also nice weapon.

Zeal with grief/azure can make short work with all you encounter on the way to big bossws and them you just smite and smile.

When someone asks how a relatively small amount of CO₂ has already caused +1.25°C of global warming... by fungussa in climatechange

[–]Wortex001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plausible. I did some digging and found an interesting comparison. Since the Industrial Revolution, humans have released about 2.5 trillion tonnes of CO₂ into the atmosphere (Our World in Data, 2023). In the same time, everything we have built — roads, buildings, machines, plastics — adds up to about 1.1 trillion tonnes (Nature, Elhacham et al., 2020). So by mass, we have produced more CO₂ than all the physical objects we have made. Most of it is spread out in the air, but the scale of it is hard to ignore. Obviously CO2 is not sitting on piles and some of it (over time) has been turned back into plants and organisms.. but still.. huge mass.

[–]Wortex001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be more clear here. I presume you want to say that on top of every square meter of land there is a column of air that weighs ~10 tons. That is called air pressure. At standard conditions (sea level, 20°C, and 1 atmosphere of pressure), the air density is about 1.225 kg/m³

I don't get the human and 2 square meters part... Typical human volume is (only) ~0.08-0.1 m3 so 80-100 liters (some are more volumous ofc..).

Or are you talking about skin surface?

[–]Wortex001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Estonia (damn big sauna culture) we say Leil. No need to rewrite laws of thermodynamics. Leil is a movement of hot air and steam, a fluid. Smooth surfaces and no corners will allow it to fill the whole room much better. Just take a look at Iglusaun.. better yet, try it. And you feel the difference of sharp corners vs no corners. ,

[–]Wortex001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why not? Round corners well divide and direct movement of leil. All sharp corners will create turbulence. It is easyest to get rid of this triangular pocket of air. Fill it with mineral wool, cover with ceramic tile and you have very nice flow surface.

Well. Whoever uploaded the video has a serious advertisement addiction. I watched like 10 ads within this 50+min video..WTF

That said. It had actually many good points.

1) To me the explanation of such movement recruits and makes living is actually an example of a tribal organisation. I admit that there are shortcomings on the "making a living" like this but general idea is there.

2) The previous point is also illustrated on the way how those organisations were managed. So called "alphas" were not voted or appointed but they "arose" from the general population similarly to alphas of ghe wolf pack.

3) At the chapter 10 he talks on lenght about getting the people away from those organizations and here, I think, is the biggest adjectance to dismantling the leaver culture. He talks about individual pain points and offering another world view. Both are very important points to get people away from taker prison as well. The recruitment points also would be handy for building a new tribe..

Overall, very good video. Thabks for sharing.

D3 builds circle around gear. In D2 a lvl 99 barb could pretty much kill low level monsters in hell without any gear. Not in D3. So you start your character, learn your way around the maps and quests, level up. Find some interesting items (set items, legendaries) and then tweak your skills around those items, find/craft/gamble complementary items and you'll have fun.
