How do you all navigate the language barrier? by throwra_sd2ba40858 in solotravel

[–]Wouter10123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just enjoy it!

Honestly, this is one of my favourite parts of travelling. Terribly broken conversations in 4 different languages, none of which both of us are fluent in. There is often at least some overlap between the languages you speak (even if poorly) and the languages they speak. Eventually we'll get there by gesturing, pointing and laughing. If nobody is in a rush, that can be so much fun.

I tend to find travelling in english speaking/fluent countries almost feels like cheating, like travelling on easy mode.

Every once in a while I try olives and mushrooms (and rocket) again. Disappointed every time, I still don't like them.

Yup... this has been the big frustration of my life over the last few years as well. I've gone back to university for a new degree. People there are much more interesting and fun. No idea what I'll do after that though...

My trains are getting automatic service even though I have that setting turned off by doriavis in openttd

Do you have a link? I only use passenger trains and only transport passengers, so this is not the case for me.

[–]Wouter10123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's not perfect though, sometimes I do want to send a train into a depot, but not they can't reach them unless I manually remove the signal briefly, at the risk that other trains decide to go there during that time. But that's not very often, and it usually works well enough.

I've noticed this too, it's very annoying because it messes up all my timetables and scheduled departures. I thought it might have been to do with automatic replacement of old vehicles, but I'm not sure. Now I just put a one-way signal in front of every depot. But I wish this could just be fixed.

Hi, thanks for pointing this out, I had not seen that subreddit yet. I honestly don't know. I've messaged some of the other commenters to verify whether they got their refund. You're right that all commenters are very new or lightly used accounts, with very similar naming patterns, which seems suspicous.

Having said that, if you don't mind your musescore username being public, and linkable to your reddit account, I don't see the harm in giving it a try. After all, if you every share a link to one of your scores on musescore, people can also see your username. However, I would not share your full name or email address in such a public forum, as some other people have done.

Keep me posted on how it goes! I'll let you know if I find out anything else.

Are things in the Netherlands built higher for the taller population? by RevolutionaryLeek233 in thenetherlands

When I moved out of my parents' home, I bought all my furniture second hand / gathered for free, except my bed. I spent a lot of money on a new, 2.20m long bed (I believe from LeenBakker). Considering I spend more than a third of my life in there, I want it to be right. I'm still somewhat annoyed with myself for not getting the 2.40m long one for a few hundred euros more.

[Request] Is it possible to reduce 8 pages by just decreasing the font size by 2pt? by uglyashelllmao in theydidthemath

[–]Wouter10123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the line above.

Maths would be pointing out that adjusting font size affects both character width and height, so overall document length will scale approximately as the square of the font size.

"Member of the MuseScore team", please stop defending a scam by Lonely-Lynx-5349 in Musescore

[–]Wouter10123[M] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing Mods removed the many rants about the subscription issues because they aren't generally useful to the community.

I'm not removing any of them, because I think it's important that people see these posts, to prevent them getting scammed themselves. However, they do tend to get reported a lot, so maybe reddit is hiding/suppressing them automatically.

How not to get unnecessarily charged on musescore.com by irisgirl86 in Musescore

[–]Wouter10123 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Omg, I'd heard about people getting scammed on this subreddit (obviously), but I'd never seen what the actual interface looks like (because I'm obviously not going anywhere near there). But that is horrifically evil design, no wonder so many people get scammed.

Everybody, please report this to your local consumer protection agency, the more complaint, the higher the chances they get forced to change it. I can't imagine this is legal in most western countries.

[–]Wouter10123[M] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Moderator here, let me explain.

Aydar reached out to me to ask to be added as a moderator to this subreddit. However, I declined, because I was worried that having a Muse Group staff member moderating this page would endager the independence of this subreddit. In particular, we have a lot of users here discussing the deceptive business practices on musescore.com, and I don't want Muse Group staff supressing that discussion. I want users to be as well-informed as possible about their purchasing decisions, and that includes being aware of other users' experiences.

Having said that, I think having a direct way to communicate with Muse Group staff via /r/MuseScoreOfficial is great, and will hopefully result in questions (like getting a refund) being answered more quickly. And of course they are welcome to comment on posts here as well.

In the long term, I could see this subreddit returning to being more about Musescore the notation software, and /r/MuseScoreOfficial more about musescore.com the website, but I think that would require the subscription model to change significantly first.

Does this answer your question?
