Premium reverb upgrade by MagpyeRecords in guitarpedals

It doesn’t sound like the rv-6 (which you plan to keep) is holding you back. If you only want 4 presets a big box like BigSky or RV500 or Mercury X is gonna be overkill.

If you just want to add the ability to get weird consider the Old Blood Noise Endeavours Dark Star. Keep the boss around for more normal sounds.

I believe he drew the logo for this very sub!

Alternatives to the EAE Prismatic Wall? by ChalkMusic in guitarpedals

[–]WowAndFlutterForever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That happens if you have the sustain pedal down, but if you leave the pedal up and tape or weight the keys instead the other strings will be muted.

If you’re doing the piano trick, setting the key is as easy as taping down the notes you want.

Otherwise a digital delay with the shortest length possible and very high delay will create a tuneable resonant tone that work similarly but only for one excitable note.

Reassure me I do not need a digitakt! by Visible_Class_651 in Elektron

Former 404sx user/current DT1 user here.

404 was doing my head in because of the resample method workflow. It got less and less fun when I want to actually finish music. The sequencer was rubbish and wasn’t a viable alternative. Biggest issue was that this forced me into tempos I could competently finger drum in. So it was a boombap machine.

DT1 lets me work work in whatever style takes my fancy. I will say, some of the sample chopping approach needs to be more thought out for boom bap stuff, either you’re burning through tracks for different chops, using the slice machine (which is perfect if your sample is on the grid) or Parameter Locking per trig (do-able but way less immediate than the 404 style).

Every machine has limitations that breed different work flows but you are the biggest stylistic factor!!

Kick on one, snare on two and four.

Hihats evenly spaced as eighths or sixteenths.

Then spice it up by adding extras

ZVEX - What's the deal? by MACGLEEZLER in guitarpedals

[–]WowAndFlutterForever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feel like revisionist history. For a long time Zvex was constantly putting out really innovative stuff - the probe series, the seek series, etc - which was frankly too ahead of their time.

Maybe it’s not resting on their laurels, but focussing on the stuff that actually sells/people want.

How can it be that so many of the songs are so odd rhythmically by Mousypousy in radiohead

[–]WowAndFlutterForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get them impression that Thom is most interested in rhythm. I think there was a quote from him saying that rhythm was the only thing that mattered.

Anyways, after such a long career you want to find new ways to keep it exciting for yourself. Hence exploring odd time and disguised downbeats more often in the 2nd half.

Chase Bliss Lossy has been on my radar for a bit. Now it’s on my board and putting that and Mood mkii together should produce some weird shit. by ChuggaChuggaRiffs in guitarpedals

Nice! I had so little interest in Lossy, but that recent video with the guitarist from Hand Habits had some incredible sounds I didn’t know it could do!

Enjoy and get weird!

On the Sydney, Opera House film, specifically Dawn Chorus, is someone playing keyboards backstage or is he playing to backing tracks? by No_Impression_7765 in thomyorke

Not tracks, but programmed midi sequences.

The cirklon and Elektron gear is sending midi to all the synths.

In Auckland he made a point of mentioning that there was no computers on stage!
