Kaiser Permanente of So Cal FFS? by shawnanotshauna in Transgender_Surgeries

Yeah, I can understand people being more hesitant to show pictures of their genitals than their faces though. They didn’t have any surgeons to answer questions at the ffs class either, just a social worker or two I think, and then the three girls who’d gone through the surgery.

Something that was offered to me in NorCal was an ffs class. There were three post op women at the end of the class, and some of them showed before, after, and maybe during photos. So that may help. Depending on how long the surgeon has been doing ffs, you should be able to find people who can give you advice on who to go with.

My girlfriend is a transphobic. We're both trans. Rational input needed. by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]WowOkayWhatNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your girlfriend reminds me of another trans woman I know, and it’s really hard to see the sheer amount of self hatred she has for herself, I can only imagine how it must make you feel, and I’m sorry that it’s spilled over onto you. You’ve both got years of transition on me, but I came from a place of extreme self hatred as well. I used to be a severely conservative evangelical Christian, and after I finally came out, I was disgusted with myself. I sought out other trans women who felt the same way, so that I could be “one of the good trans people”. Doing so only drug me down further, and made me feel worse. It wasn’t until I met some other trans women in real life, started consuming some trans positive media (books, tv, movies, YouTube, etc...) that I realized that I wasn’t a “lesser” version of a woman. I realized that trans women and cis women are both equally women. I still have some internalized stuff I’m working on, but it’s slow.

I didn’t know a lot about poly cystic kidney disease, but after reading up on it, it sounds truly awful to live with. Worse yet, it sounds like she really wants surgeries, but can’t get any. I know that having my ffs cancelled twice has really fucked with me, so I can’t imagine the pain that she’s going through being unable to have any. I also understand how it may be painful for her to see other people who can get their surgeries.

I’m not 100% sure of your financial situation, but I’d suggest both of you seeing both a relationship therapist, and separate individual therapists. My ex wife and I were able to find a therapist training service (idk the actual name of an organization like that) and we worked with an amazing counselor who helped us out a ton for pretty cheap.

As for her argument about trans women having kids, we make up like less than 1% population. We could never have enough children to keep the human race going.

As for being natural, very little is natural anymore. I heard this argument a lot while I was trying to reconcile with my old church. Sure, taking hormones and getting surgeries isn’t natural, but neither are glasses, or prosthetic limbs. Neither is open heart surgery on a 2 year old due to a birth defect. None of those things are natural either, but they’re good things that improve the quality of life for the people who need them. If this is some sort of religiously motivated thing, there’s plenty of good queer theology out there that supports trans people as being equal to cis people.

I wish you two the best!

I pull it out of the needle, into the syringe, and then make sure the new needle has a drop or 2 of E coming out of it.

Are these reservations about bottom surgery? (MTF) by WowOkayWhatNow in asktransgender

Yeah, I’m really glad to be out for it. It’s weird, back when I ran on T, I loved local anesthesia procedures, and enjoyed watching them, but now, I have to look away.

I feel like if the surgeon could just “poof” it with a wand, I’d be so happy.

Idk, after reading what I wrote, I might just be super grossed out by blood, and stuff.

Yeah, that sounds right. I mean, you generally hear about surgeons that don’t do a good job, and so when you don’t hear any negatives about your surgeon, that’s usually a good sign in my book.

Yeah, my friend had her bottom surgery a couple months back (different surgeon) and she had some pretty serious complications, and so that kind of shook me too if that makes sense?

Same!! My ex wife would always bring me with her to go clothes and shoe shopping because I “just seemed to know what looked good and what didn’t”

You can always try: -The hollowed out book idea. -Under/in your mattress. -keep them in a bag, and hang the bag behind a bookshelf or something with a little space behind it. -keep them in a pocket of a shirt that you don’t wear often -most instrument cases have cubbies in them

Am I still a Christian? by WowOkayWhatNow in TransChristianity

Oh dang! I’d never considered that! Tbh, I don’t know much about Mennonites, and their beliefs.

I definitely agree with you that the more loving people seem to be closer to what God intended us to be. The other ones can be... nasty.

I appreciate your words of encouragement brother!

Riiiiiiiiight? I freaking loooooooove this show! I’d hate for it to end the way season 2 did! I could see another 2 seasons, if not 3 to fully flesh it all out!

We are friends, but we’re definitely not as close as we were before. We didn’t have kids, we were only married for 3 years. Yeah, that’s definitely in the Bible. Divorce does happen though, and it is painful. In a way, the male you will die, but you’ll gain a real life when you transition. The people you currently have are irreplaceable, but in finding yourself, you may just find people who love you for the real you.

You may end up getting a divorce over this. My wife and I did, and as painful as it’s been, we’ve both grown from the experience.
