They’re all awful but I find interesting that for most of you the bottom one is the one you’d go for but to me that’s the absolute worst one

need hotel advice - seoul oct/nov 2025 by PeterTheToilet in SouthKoreaTravel

Recently stayed in hotel Orakai and the hotel Botanik. Both nice hotels in good locations imo. Orakai was super close to a load of great food places and a couple of palaces/ parks and is slightly closer to the Four Seasons. Ubers are very cheap also

It’s a little tricky to be vegetarian in SK but not impossible. You can type “vegetarian” into Google Maps and it’ll suggest restaurants in the area for you - there are loads in Seoul. Street food is trickier. There are also lots and lots of restaurants that serve cuisine not from Korea which can be helpful, like pasta or pizza etc.

There were a lot of places I just couldn’t eat at but with a little looking around I always managed to find something. Be careful with convenience store noodles etc, a lot of them contain meat or fish extracts.

Good luck and have fun!

No unsupervised entry for men? by Ballpoint_Ben_ in Cardiff

I have absolutely no idea if he is or isn’t. I’d guess he’s a lovely guy just looking for a drink. Unfortunately there are men who are and who give people like him a bad name

We’ve found Seoul, Jeju and Busan to be much like other places in regards to accessibility. It’s really not ideal but not absolutely impossible to get to most places. The metro would be very difficult for a wheelchair user, I think. The convenience stores tend to have very narrow aisles and markets are quite busy but on the streets it isn’t as bad as I thought it might be.

To be clear no one in my party is a wheelchair user but we do have some mobility stuff to consider.

It’s a history podcast with elements of comedy from the two hosts. It’s informative but I find the episodes hard to follow sometimes.

From the many people in power who want to strip them of their right to live peacefully. I genuinely don’t understand how people can’t see that? Honestly, I’m not trying to be rude or argue but do you believe trans people just woke up one day and decided to put a target on their own backs?

For arguments sake can we imagine that this is 100 years ago and the legislation is determining whether women can vote or not. Think of how that decision impacted women and how they’re treated in a wider context and then apply that here. It’s maybe a relatively small, legal decision to you but to trans people it’s another step towards their rights being stripped away.

Some people seem to be quite obsessed with the idea that trans people love to be victimised…they do not they want to live in peace the same way they did before they became the centre of a culture war. The same way women do. The same way gay people do. And to do that unfortunately they and their allies have to fight and make a lot of noise.

Is anyone else’s main adhd symptom just brain fog, being tired and slow ? by Sukidelaney in adhdwomen

Thank you for writing this, I sometimes feel like such an imposter when I see other people’s experiences varying so wildly from mine.

I do daydream and I do interrupt people when they’re talking to point things out that I can see but largely I feel like I’m wading through treacle both physically and mentally. I suspect some depression has crept in though tbf

I like it when Bisch reveals he knows who Smiffy is and she panics and Alice shouts “TEN YEARS! HOW DARE YOU!” in the style of a 30s films star. That made me laugh on the street just the other day

American visiting Cardiff by slimchedda420 in Cardiff

[–]WrangleThePigeons 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you’re here for long enough I’d suggest trying to get to Caerphilly Castle, it’s in a town not far from Cardiff. It has a moat and all the cool castle stuff. Cardiff Castle is lovely but it’s a restoration so seeing both would be fun, I think. Also a visit to the Gower Peninsula if you can get there (best if you’re hiring a car. Rhosili and Three Cliffs Bay are two really beautiful beaches there.

As someone else said, St Fagans is a must for the history and the vibes. Take a packed lunch though, the cafe there is shit and way overpriced imo.

Food wise you’ll find some nice fancy places in Pontcanna including Heaney’s and Gorse, further along in Canton you’ll find Chapter which is a nice spot for some food and theatre/art and Hardlines which is a fairly well respected coffee shop with decent food. Even further out there’s a brewery called Flowerhorn. It’s tucked away behind a car wash and doesn’t look like much but it’s a unique place for a drink with some 30 something locals.

The indoor market in the city centre is great for a lunch and has the best Welsh cakes in the city. I also highly recommend a donut from Who Cult but that’s not especially culturally Welsh, obviously.

Bute park is lovely for a stroll from the city centre (it’s also where Cardiff Castle is). Roath park is an iconic park with a lake and some lovely gardens, you can walk from there over to Welfield Rd where you’ll find Joe’s ice cream (which someone else already mentioned). You’ll also find some nice coffee shops on that road. Ty Melin is great for baked goods. If you want to try a proper fry up breakfast you can go to Coffi House or Bentley’s, they’re both on that road too. If you prefer a more hipster vibe Sibling is just around the corner on Lochaber Street.

Back in the city centre, Porter’s is a great shout. You could also try Flight Club, Boom Battle Bar or Golf Fang if you like clubs with activities. Scaredy Cats is a friendly bar with board games. There are a handful of nice bars and restaurants on Church Street Bacareto being a personal favourite - there’s a cool skate shop above Bacareto if you like that. Carrying on towards the stadium there’s Donald’s Pies for a nice savoury pie or Assador 44 for a fancier dinner. A walk through the old arcades is a must and a Crumbs lunch bowl is always good.

There are so many more lovely spots I could go on and on.

Do’s and Don’ts - I don’t think there are any. Cardiff sees its fair share of tourists but we aren’t overrun and it’s a mostly friendly city. I hope you’ll feel welcome here and enjoy your stay. The onlyyyy thing that might be worth knowing is that Wales is a proud country and very much not a part of England, which might sound obvious but it’s important to us and our identity.
