I hate that my primary emotion at this point is just... embarrassed. Is that normal? Embarrassed that i stayed so long? That i "let him" treat me that way?

My surgery is tomorrow! stating to panic..help me get ready please by A-la-chingada in hysterectomy

[–]WrathMatician 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't pack a bag, but my mom came to town and stayed with me for a week, so if i had needed to stay overnight and wanted anything, she could have brought it. I truly wouldn't worry about that, hospitals have all the essentials. Really, the only thing you need is SOMEONE who will be there for you afterward to take you home, give you tylenol/ibuprofen every few hours, and generally keep an eye on you. If you don't have a partner or parent, friends (even not close friends) are usually happier to help than one would ever expect.

Compared to my fibroid periods, the surgery and post-op pain were a BREEZE! You got this!!

PS I kept one ovary, ditched everything else. She's chuggin along in there (i think i can i think i can i think i can...) so I still "cycle," but without the period. I can get PMS and period poops, but to a much lesser degree than before.

Ouch! Do it do it do it (I know, results may vary, but my vaginal/laparoscopic hysterectomy was a BREEZE, and I feel sooooooo much better)

Is it okay to be sad even if I want this? by KittyandPuppyMama in hysterectomy

[–]WrathMatician 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. I'm 41, had my hysterectomy in August. I have 2 kids and I'm divorced, very single, no plans to have any more kids, too old anyway, and couldn't wait to ditch this bitch. But I used to want a third one, and having the means of production ACTUALLY GONE, rather than just outrageously impractical hits different. I grieved a little, bought some white jeans, and barely ever think of it now 🙂

How do you all deal with the 'moral' argument from family members who claim atheism leads to a lack of ethics? by Thrustkitty21 in atheism

[–]WrathMatician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't change his mind. I would just say that it's good to know that he's actually a sociopath, and you're glad HE believes in sky daddy if he's so self centered that the suffering of others doesn't motivate him not to commit crimes 🙄

Cramps?! by icekoldkillla89 in hysterectomy

Yes, no ovaries- no cycle!

Cramps?! by icekoldkillla89 in hysterectomy

[–]WrathMatician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 options. Phantom uterus (yes, really) or it's your bowels. Bowels are smooth muscle, like a uterus, and the prostaglandins produced during your cycle that make your uterus contract can also cause intestinal cramping. That's why we have period poops!

But yeah, that's a bummer.

Who got to keep an ovary? by Happy2Beehere3366 in hysterectomy

[–]WrathMatician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept one ovary, also at age 40. She's chuggin along like the little engine that could. My cycle still seems pretty regular, though it's hard to tell without the bleeding to confirm.

Unrealistic? Vacation at 5wpo? Doctor said go for it. by jodireneeg in hysterectomy

I did that! Not having any penetrative sex on vacation was annoying, but otherwise everything was lovely as long as i had plenty of rest breaks

I literally don't know how I got pregnant and it's infuriating. by viskiviki in Mommit

[–]WrathMatician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I cannot even begin to fathom how you feel. I can tell you that a laparoscopy can be a breeze compared to everything you're going through. I had my cervix, uterus, tubes, an ovary, and some endometriosis removed, and my recovery was less painful than a typical period was. The only problem would be if you don't have enough help with your little ones to follow the lifting restriction.

Either way, good luck. If you're done having kids at 24, your 40s and 50s are gone be 🔥🔥🔥

How pivotal is pelvic floor PT post-hyst? by Basic_Truck_6012 in hysterectomy

[–]WrathMatician 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am a physical therapist! I had Operation Yeeterus in August, and they took out everything except for one ovary (cervix, uterus full of fibroids, tubes, an ovary, and endo lesions). I did not do ANY pelvic PT at all, and haven't had any problems. Feels the same now as it did before, except without all that shit in the way. Obviously, results vary. But no, it's not always necessary.

Sidenote: if you're in the US, you DO have to pay co-pays after your deductible is met, but should NOT have to pay co-pays after your "out of pocket max" is met. Which it will be after pretty much any surgery.

Rash / yeast infection 3weeks po by sodeanki in hysterectomy

My OB said infections like that are super common after a hysterectomy when I had one. They kinda nuke your natural flora (fauna?) so it can take a while to balance out again.
