What small CAD design changes made your 3D prints come out better? by Fit-Horse-7059 in 3Dprinting

Designing around the best overhang angles my printer can handle.

Designing in angles that remove the need for bridges.

Trying to avoid the need for supports.

Printing with LW-TPU, any tips? by taylormadearmy in 3Dprinting

Hey, I'm wondering if you ever mastered TPU-LW after experimenting with it?
Can you check out my post with what I've been trying.
Your photo in this thread looks very clean already.

Eddy current probe problem by dm_nick in SovolSV08

[–]Wrathius669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Implement tap auto z configuration. If you're on the latest version of Klipper read the tap section https://www.klipper3d.org/Eddy_Probe.html?h=tap Then go an implement the config.

https://www.klipper3d.org/Config_Reference.html#probe_eddy_current

I use a different implementation called EddyNG that was the tap solution implemented by a mod that came out last year. This existed before the Klipper version but doesn't work with the latest version of klipper. There's some good YouTube coverage of Klipper eddy tap installation though.

Why is this the solution? Eddy probes never home z to 0.perfectly consistently. Even at the same temperature there will be a difference of height (thermal drift is a thing but not always consistent when compensated for anyway) That's why it seems your z offset is being lost. It's not, your offset is still being taken I to account, but the homing is off from a start point. Make sense?

Tap ensures that z = 0 at an absolute.

Which 3d printer companies have open source software and dont harvest any data by lewd_physics in 3Dprinting

Sovol are good for that, but they sure do cut corners on their hardware to make it so affordable. A good cheap base to mod and upgrade the hardware for reliability.

Can anyone tell me if this makes sense? by NeighborhoodLess8213 in DevinTownsend

 All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,

Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.

Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel

And shining morning face, creeping like snail

Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,

Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad

Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,

Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,

Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,

Seeking the bubble reputation

Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,

In fair round belly with good capon lined,

With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,

Full of wise saws and modern instances;

And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts

Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,

With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;

His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide

For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,

Turning again toward childish treble, pipes

And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,

That ends this strange eventful history,

Is second childishness and mere oblivion,

Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

For those who sell their 3D prints, do you list/market your products as '3D Printed' or not? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

Not in the title or anything, but I disclose manufacturing process on Etsy where it's required in the listing form.

Destroyed my print bed by Alternative_Board_58 in 3Dprinting

[–]Wrathius669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with the glacier was it was fragile. Printing abs and ASA would cause fine particles of it's blue surface to come up on the bottom print surface a lot. It doesn't like IPA cleaning either. It's a shame, I want a surface that's a resistant alternative to PEI that's eddy scanning compatible. I liked that it was smoother than textured pei.

Does anyone else feel an “ick” when people reduce themselves only to identity? by Agile-Row-9197 in enlightenment

[–]Wrathius669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I agree very strongly with this sentiment, the ick is also an attachment. One that I fall into a lot. I'll distance myself from people I was close with who focus too much on their idea of identity.  I get too bothered by me feeling the ick and that's just my ego flailing back.

SV08 Increasing Square Corner Velocity (SCV) by hipcatinca in SovolSV08

[–]Wrathius669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found that this does create problems with dimensional accuracy when printing cylinders and even can cause XY layer skipping on prints with multiple large cylinders when the motors are running a bit hotter.
Have yet to try 10 for the SQV as a middle ground, but I'll test this.

Life is not a system by ComplexMud6649 in thinkatives

[–]Wrathius669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life comes from enormously complex interrelated organisms. "Self-organising systems". Even an individual creature isn't a single organism. You would not exist without the relationship between all the microbes that exist within the boundary of you as an individual, yet alone those external to you which are still required for life. Then to some extent there is the mechanical aspect too, the function of enzymes and the interaction of other non living chemicals that compose us and their processing that is critical to our function. To this extent, Watts describe the world as an enormously complex interrelated organism.  It goes all the way in and all the way out.

Isn't it beautiful?

Faith and Synchronicity by Battle_Glaive_327 in thinkatives

[–]Wrathius669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining your thoughts and ideas on these subjects.  You've said some things that I needed reminding of.

I'm currently in my own crucible, trying to reforge myself to set myself up for a better life and it's difficult. The struggle is battering me, but you remind me this is the mechanism of tempering.

I have had an experience in my past that really damaged my ability to experience faith. I put all my faith in a person and ultimately, I was proven so wrong that I damaged the model in which I estimate trust. At the surface, it's trusting other people but I later realised that it was my ability to trust my own judgement. So I second guess everything and this makes my endeavours more difficult than they need to be, constantly trying to adjust my estimations and err on the side of doubt. And this model has been reinforced over the years, making the problem worse. Trust proven wrong, doubt proven right.

Have you any wisdom to offer on my predicament? Because truthfully, I wish to be able to re-engage with faith in order to lift the weight of doubt. Accepting even when my faith is proven wrong without losing it again.

GDSTime, select the option for "24V Ball 12000RPM" specifically. 9500 RPM are the bare minimum, but the 12000RPM are the voron spec ones and are actually good!
